ive been using Teamviewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) for a good while now, its a great piece of software
It consists of a software suite for the supporter and the user that needs support doesnt need to install one thing, the site contains a small run and go program and doesnt require portforwarding and messing around with firewalls to get working.

I've been using LogMeIn (https://secure.logmein.com/) for many years, and I'm very happy with that. You'll have to install a minor piece of software on the PC to remotely control, but I actually find that to be a good thing (as I've often used that as the excuse when one of too many distant relatives have asked if I'm able to help them with some silly computer issue :narnar:)

I noticed a small thing on TeamViewer's site:

How is it even closely acceptable from a security perspective that such a software is allowed to run if it really is true what they say that you do not need any administrative rights? Doesn't sound too good in my ears :g:

very pleased with logmein. Know a firm which does IT-support via the pro version where you don't need to install a client on the support PC (well you guide the client to a browser, which downloads something from there) and the pro interface has TONS of features.

Whats wrong with it, ofc the person receiving the support has to accept the remote control, else it wont work.

Might be nothing, but at first glance I picture that the same way you normally would need administrator rights to install some piece of software on a PC, you should also need the same kind of rights to allow somebody to take control over your computer (unless it is through software already installed by an administrator). But it might also be that my thinking is totally faulty :)

as the software isnt installed on the client pc, thats not a issue..

but when i first tried it, i was sceptical too, as i would have thought it the program would demand admin rights to run due to remote controll part.. but i havent encountered it yet, and ive used to help out people atleast 50 times now
