My keyboard is on it way out and there are many lovely choices out there.
Was wondering if any of you could recommend any particular ones? Or stay away from
Was looking at the Microsoft x6 but heard not amazing thinks like cant use 3 buttons at once. Anyone heard the same?
What I need from it to have are volume and media controls.
Any help ladies and gents would be great.
Consider a detachable numpad so that you can have the mouse placed ergonomically correct (i.e. having the main keys centred means that the mouse goes too far right or vice versa, when you have a numpad).
I'm also in the market for a new KB.
I've been using my trusty Z-Board (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0002XEOZ2/ref=s9_wishx_gw_p63_t3?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=12EXBPC2K1ZGGKG68DT1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467198433&pf_rd_i=468294) with a BF2 keyset for all my gaming since BF2 came out.
I like the gaming "butterfly" key lay-out; It is intuitive and comfy.
Some people didn't like the feel of the keys, but I do.
The only problem I've had (from the beginning) is the Tab key sometimes gets stuck down. Easily remedied by re-seating the keyset.
The only time I swap the BF2 set for a standard KB is when visitors want to use the pc, or I have "serious stuff" to do.
I may just replace the keyset with a new gaming 1, as I am (almost) perfectly happy with it. My only gripe is the number keys are small and difficult to pick out.
I have been looking at the SteelSeries Merc Stealth (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-018-ST&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=1258) which would seem to give me the best of both worlds, with a normal KB plus Butterfly and gaming keys.
This KB can do up to 7 simultaneous keystrokes.
Illuminated too.
I got an old Saitek Eclipse KB, which I like.
It glows blue, which I turn off because it's too bright and I can't see the keys properly when it's on (old age affecting the eyes).
Nice feel to the keys and seems robust enough.
Been looking for a smaller board without a numpad but they are hideously expensive or pants.
there is the new G19 keyboard, which is pretty expensive and maybe a bit overkill, but a cool gadget. And there is always a G15, pretty well priced now I think :g:
both have volume and media controls with LCD panels.
A vote for the G15. Mainly due to the wonderfully tactile illuminated keyboard and the mass of programmable keys. LED screen is a nice gimmick but I basically use it to keep an eye on the time when I'm lost in Dragon Age
i got myself a logitech wave, and really enjoy it, takes a little getting used too but now i love the layout
Well after looking for the last week and a bit, decieded to sod it and get one of these there a little life in the old keyboard still.

But didnt pay the asking price for it :)
I bought one of these (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=KB-145-LG&groupid=702&catid=23&subcat=) recently.
Expensive, but incredibly good. Much better than alot of the 'gamer' keyboards which turn out to be all gimmick...

My brother got that too and it is actually a pretty good keyboard. It makes no noise but the keys have a good action.

Well the kids got me one as a belated B'day pressie:yahoo:
Fired it up today and I am very chuffed with it.
I used to leave my FPS keyset in all the time, and I must've got used to the layout; I keep using \ instead of shift as I'm not used to it being there.
Apart from that, it's a beaut...Blooded tonight in a clan match too:D
