Despite our defences the tossers will find ways to spam us. Sending a PM means it's not picked up as quickly as say a forum post which is either quickly reported or spotted by a mod (TeaLeaf has got a particularly finely tuned radar for this :)).

If you get a spam PM report it asap and the banhammer will be applied.:D

It would be good if you could remove any links before quoting the content of any suspect spammage as this particular message had a link that may have had some nasty trojan at the end of it.

Spammers have been quite busy recently across all the forums I visit so increased vigilance is needed, I've upped the threat level from pfft to tut.

I had a PM earlier today with a suspicious link. It was also sent to Garra and three other members of the forum. Deleted without using link.

(Or maybe I should take that as a compliment (ref. what T-Bag said above), that I'm too smart to fall for anything like that anyway :norty:)

Looks like a friend of our spammer is just registering on the site

XandderrMan = Banned
RazzorrMan = Registering

And he also seems to be registering at hundreds of other forums this morning.

Seems we are being invaded!

Anyhow, the link is now dead, they scooped it out of the air. But maybe its a good thing to instal Avira Premium Security Fatdan. Tried the link yesterday on a different (old) computer, and it blocked it off immediatly warning me and gave me an oppertunity to back off silently lol (yeah I'm curious I know).

FYI this is nothing new. We get one or two of these spammers a day signing up. I've just banned two in the last couple of minutes. Fortunately we manage to get to them before they do any damage...... usually. XanderMann slipped the net. Sorry :sad:

I've seen these forum accounts named OldBloke and TeaLeaf... They seem to be camouflaging quite well by posting lots of "serious" stuff, but I've never really trusted those guys, it's all just spam... :norty:

im with you ninja i was not having a go at the admins, if it was any other forum no way would i have given it aother look and deleted stright way, the admin here do a good and this was the first time i've had any thing like this from dmw keep up the good work guys :D
