Please post if you get it running on Windows 7 - it says it'll only work on XP.....
Sadly, they don't work under 64-bit Windows - even when emulated in DosBox :(

Noooo :sad: wasted download. Perhaps I could do it using some virtual installation?

Downloading now....Have Windows 7 64 so probably in same boat as everyone else, we shall see.
Anyone tried running it in dosbox using XP mode? It's built in virtualisation so should work.
thnx, dling it now
DosBOx didn't work for me in W7 x64 T-Bag.
I'll run up a VM at work tomorrow lunchtime and try it on there :)
Thanks Toby:) i will give it a shot not played it in year:D
Works on 32 bit Win 7 Ultimate (yes I know, stupid 32-bit, but I was offered for free...)
Glad some of you are managing to enjoy it :)

The Tiberian Sun version worked for me straight away on win 7 - 64 bit :)

To enable widescreen resolutions ...
QuoteGo to your gamedir, and edit sun.ini. Find these lines:
[Video]
ScreenWidth=xxxx
ScreenHeight=xxx
StretchMovies=no
Edit the values of ScreenWidth and ScreenHeight to set your resolution. I strongly recommend setting StretchMovies to yes. Note that the game uses 16 bit color, and if your system can handle a specific resolution at 32 bit color but not 16 bit color, it will not run at that resolution.
64 bit compatible C&C rip, linked to from the installation instructions on the download page. Videos removed. Downloading now but haven't tested yet.

Also possible info at the top of this page to get Red Alert working on 64bit, again untested:

Edit: Well C&C works, the experience is rather diminished due to the lack of videos IMHO, may see if I can restore them. A bit of colour corruption in the menus on my pc too.

I tried Toby's link at work (Win 7 64-bit) and that also worked like a charm. I just ran as admin and ran the .exe-file directly...?

Are you talking about C&C95? Which .exe file? Nothing on the downloaded iso would run under 64bit for me.
Although I did discover that videos work with the modified version I linked above if you download the full iso and copy the 'movies.mix' file over. :D

Nope, I just grabbed Tiberian Sun and ran sun.exe...
Cool! :D A working solution then

Ah Tiberian Sun is newer and should work no probs. :) I'm on about Tiberium Dawn (original C&C) and Red Alert.

I see! After reading a bit, I see your problem. It seems VMware / virtualbox is the solution?
Colours prob - maybe some help here (http://forums.commandandconquer.com/jforum/posts/list/33962.page)

Great find. :D I can confirm that the batch file method of killing explorer.exe while the game is running fixes the color problems, none of the other suggestions worked for me. For convenience, my batch file is:
Quotetaskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
C:\"Games"\"C&C95"\"C&C95.exe"
start explorer.exe
... though you'll probably need to change the path. According to the thread something similar will work for Red Alert too, haven't tried yet. Too busy being overjoyed at having C&C working with videos (and high resolution btw, forgot to mention the patched version adds that) on Win7. :yahoo:
