Title: Laptop Repair
Post by: Zootoxin on February 15, 2010, 09:57:36 PM
Hi Guys,

I know alot of people say once a laptop dies its dead but the problem with our laptop is the PSU.

The Cable is fine but the laptop isn't accepting a charge and it doesn't smell too good when plugged in.

What are the chances I can get this baby fixed?

It would be a shame to can it for a power pack!

If you fancy yourself with a soldering iron, I seem to remember that it isn't toooo hard to replace a PSU board, IIRC you can get replacements for under Ã,£20 off ebay.

Don't quote me on this, but I vaguely remember someone doing something along those lines before...

http://repair4laptop.org/notebook_power_supply.html is a good starting point, if it's just a problem with the connector jack then you're fine. If you've fried something internally on the M/B tho, not so fun...

I'm waiting on a pair of laptop PSUs for our laptops, Ã,£13 each from dealextreme. It's a gamble for Ã,£13 but may be an option.
