So what do people think about passwording the server?
dMw are paying for it but invariably it is rammed with plebs so dMw members can't get on. :sad:
OK yes we want to attract people to our playing style but as we haven't had a real chance to learn the game we don't yet have a playing style.
We can't admin the server properly yet (unless I'm mistaken) so we can't kick nerds?
I cast my vote to password the server for at least some evenings and that for a few weeks. Thereafter we could leave it open. :g:
I think shutting ourselves off from the world has some disadvantages too. Private nights or sessions can alays be arranged, but that's a decision the BC2 admins to take as they get up to speed with how to admin the server and run the section. The play style already works if you talk on TS.
If you want to get on, give me or one of the other admin a shout. We'll select someone not in a squad or going lone ranger for a kick to make room.
The admin is limited but we can kick and ban. Other than that we can only change server settings. So no slay, change team etc.
We'll definitely discuss passwording the server for set periods of certain nights though. We're currently getting huge interest in the server (some of this is quick join pointing people straight to us, but we're starting to see some of the same non-dmw names reappearing and my opinion is we don't want to scare them off by having long periods with a password. But I'm fine kicking to make way for people who play our style.

Permanently passwording the server would be a mistake imo.
As has been mentioned, we're starting to see regulars on there and it would be a shame if we locked them out.
Password it for a dedicated members-only night perhaps?
As T-Bag says if you can't get on please let one of the admins know and we will find someone to remove. DMW is paying for the server for its members. We do though need new blood and we already have people coming back on regular basis.
If people come to the forums to complain about being kicked use as a reason to recruit: D. We have a probation period to see if they like us and we like them.
The game is very popular and the DMW server is full alot nice low ping! If people see lots of dmw tags in there another reason to join.

I would also like to get a passworded night decided for new people within the community to try it.
This has been noted and will be brought up the next admin meeting which will take place shortly.
We will decide on a couple of dates i will get them posted in a vote and let you guys vote away.
It might be worth having a "tag" that people can use once they sign up to the server so we know not to kick them too. (same people will have access to the passworded server). Just a case of sign up and get immunity from kicks to make way for members, and access to the passworded night, no trial or anything needed at this point.
After a couple of weeks we can consider the implications of tags to new members.

Mortars are one of the simplest things in the game.
Take the mortar targeter, zoom (or free aim), hold fire button down at a target you want it to be fired upon, wait for target to be locked and then just watch the fireworks.
