Here's the list of jobs you can volunteer for at LAN XVII:

LAN Network Admins - who can turn up on Friday morning and who will be responsible for making sure the switches are there, connected and co
configured properly for max speed and the cables all working.

LAN Server Admins - Responsible for setting up and configuring the servers before the LAN and then for running the required games at the appropriate times.

PC Technical Support - The kind souls responsible for the helping people getting their PC's to work. This is a vital, time-consuming and selfless task (ask anyone who had problems in April!)

LAN Secretary - Responsible for all of those nice things, like a piece of card on your desk with your name, IP and gateway, collecting LAN Fees; making sure things run smoothly. Basically doing the real work whilst he LAN MC takes all the glory.

LAN Photographers / Video - the ones responsible for getting pictures all weekend and posting them on the website afterwards!

LAN Security - responsible for the room keys on those late overnight gaming sessions

LAN Competition & Gaming Committee - to set the agenda for the weekend, decide which games and competitions are to be played, timetable them, sort the prizes and liaise with the server admins to ensure the games are set up and config'd ready for the LAN. (There are no real limits on numbers here- the more the merrier). You will be given access to the passworded forum

LAN Admin Committee - to help brainstorm the administration and running of the LAN as a whole. Got some ideas you think would work? Like to see something that's missing? Then this is the one for you. You will be given access to the passworded forum

LAN MC - the person who will be the vocal host for the long weekend! Shouting at people about rules for the matches, chasing form the bar to their tables for the next competition round, making sure everyone has heard when dinner is etc.

If you think you can contribute your time and expertise to the LAN then please send me a PM or reply below stating which bit or bits you feel you are interested in and we'll appoint people once we have an idea of the number of candidates.
EVEN IF SOMEONE HAS VOLUNTEERED FOR A ROLE YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP WITH - PLEASE SAY SO BELOW. SOME OF THESE ARE BIG JOBS AND CAN OFTEN DO WITH MORE THAN ONE OR TWO PEOPLE.

I can arrive early on Friday if required, and help with the network side of things.
I'll do pics & vid, (new camera, any excuse to use it) and will help in any capacity I can.

I guess we may end up sat near the door again so I volunteer Magnus for LAN security.
I would like to also put Paddy's name forward for LAN security as I will want to be sleeping alot with young baby at home. :D He is half way dead at his age so can sleep soon. :roflmao:

Or are there more, if so, when do I get excess to the discussion??
the duscussion is held on friday around late lunch in the bar, basically to discuss what maps etc

Thanks for the offer but it's pretty easy to do as they're set up in In-design and it's just a case of swapping out the names.
You just make sure the flights are back to normal so you can actually make it :flirty:
