Title: Squads, godmode basics
Post by: kregoron on March 10, 2010, 12:44:05 AM
by request ill try and say a few words about squads in bfbc2, without doubt the greatest thing about this game..

Ive been playing a bit with a couple of guys from spain (yeah i got no idea what their saying most of the time xD ) and ive found it really takes the game to a new level when you sort a good squad setup and get moving..

i can only speak from my own experiences, what kind of squads i play in and basic tactics..

Squad types:

Type 1 standard and secure assault force.
2 medics, 1 assault and 1 engineer
This squad is taken into the fight when we are on maps with low/moderat vehicle damage.
the two medics are in squad because of their med packs/defibs, and for their brilliant suppression fire which can become rather handy.. engineer for some vehicle damage and structure damage, Assault is for killing stuff and the ammo packs.
loadouts of the assault and engineer is at their own preference, but the two medics usually setup different, 1 medic takes the kit and specs for optimizing med packs, and the other can focus on damage.
good mobility in this setup

Type 2 Go Go force
1 medic, 3 assault
simple loads of fire damage and the medic can get people up if they go down.
they setup we use when we wanna get in there and just rip the place appart, it has a high mobility.

Type 3 seek and destroy squad

1 medic, 1 engineer, 1 assault, 1 recon.
The whole family goes crazy..
We created this squad setup, with the ability to handle most situations, mainly used in conquest mode, but its also a great setup in rush mode.
This setup focuses on finding enemies and eliminating before we attack our main goal (typically the flag)
the class setups are like this:
medic is again based on keeping the group going, so all the med kit optimization as possible, engineer is whatever floats his boat, same goes for assault, the recon is based on shotguns, c4 and overall damage.
The squad uses again mobility as its strenght, the main feature is brough by the recon in its detection ability in the proximity detectors, know where the enemy is before he knows where you are.

type 4 one for when we just want to kill people
1 assault, 3 recon with snipers
sit back and take the enemy down one shot at a time from a good location. the assault tropper keeps supplying the group with ammo.
its not the most fun setup, but its does a job of clearing the way for other people assaulting the objectives.

with some more info more detailed tactics later when ive had some more sleep.

feel free to comment, ask questions and what ever you feel like.

Recon is often misused. It is a powerful foe at range, but bringing it to Medium to Short range is very effective.
Motion Sensors rack up the points and help the team and C4 can bring down armour like nobody's business. The mortar is also more effective when you can hit different spots with it.

Far too many people sit up on a ridge whereas you can be top of your team with squad motion sensor kills alone if you bundle in with a load of assaults and you can give them somewhere to spawn. 3 Assault, 1 Recon gives you motion sensors, mortar, Pistol for up close and a sniper to pick off "mid range" (short range should be covered by the assaults if you're working well.

Perhaps revisit the old battlefield 2 strategy guides?
