Title: Server problems
Post by: kregoron on March 13, 2010, 12:09:08 AM
The server is really to unstable, its been what 3 crashes tonight so far..
I know they say the server code is new and all.. but this is over the top..
ive played a lot on F2B's server, and its at like 3 days uptime, and its just as populated as ours, even more as it being HC mode

There's not alot we can do, short of raising a help ticket with Multiplay over the issue - has anyone done this yet?

Do we have any logs on the server which can shed any light on the subject?

I spoke with Kreg about this.  Our logs show no drops during the period in question, so it is more than likely at EA's end.  There is also a general BF2-like 'when the server gets busy' you're more likely to see a crash problem.  That's EA's problem too.  As far as we can tell from the logs we have access too, our server is pretty stable and most crashes are down to EA.

If you see the server crash post here with the time & date and we'll build a log to compare to our own server logs and then submit to Multiplay.

I'm hearing random crashes from other hosts, pretty much what we have seen in both the client and the server code.  Seeing as Multiplay is one of the biggest hosters I doubt they are running something that triggers issues for us.  I't not impossible, but unlikely.

From what I've seen the server isn't crashing, it's booting everyone out of the game.

I've been the first one back in after one of these mass ejections, and it's been the same map, with the same level of damage, and one objective destroyed.

There seems to be a few things that can cause mass kicks.  One almost unbelievably is PB being on!!!  The other involves the url for server info.  We will keep trying to find out the causes.  Most of it is still the EA problems.

the 3 crashes that night i mentioned was not like the ones you mention, yeah everyone was kicked and the server was for a few mins unavailable in the server list.. when finally joining again the server was back at the first map in rotation and maps were reset.

why the logs shows nothing i dont know, possibly yet another server related bug
