Had a good qualy session, ending up in 6th but an effective 5th as Manny missed the start (which is usually my job). :)
Ben went to sleep on the line and I managed to out drag him into T1 but was beaten to 4th by the Rossi hugger. I managed to overtake Steve on the next lap (@t1) and closed the gap on Deetz over the next 2 laps. He made a pigs ear coming out of the last turn and I was clearly in front by the time we hit T1 again, (you were all witnesses to his confession) when the swine tapped me into a spin, narrowly missing Steve. :taz:
I set off in pursuit and managed to get past Steve on lap 7, some 14 secs behind Deetz and by lap 10 was just behind him but unfortunately I had become the filling in a Deetz/Manny sandwich. Manny got past me with a nice dummy move ( I was the dummy) on the Rt-hander at the end of the Oval section.
He got past Damian a little later and I again closed the gap to Deetz  but could not find a way past, so I decided to pit, spot on the half way mark.
Stupid startds changed 3 of the 4 tyres
Closed on Deetz but could not get near enough to pass and then, by trying too hard I lost it under the bridge on the back section. You know the one, two wheels on the grass -recoverable, one wheel disaster. My only care was to bring it home in 5th but Steve was still lurking on my tailpipes.
Mannys' excellent charge for glory came to an end when he had a front tyre puncture and then Ed had the gross misfortune of running out of juice on the last lap whilst leading by a comfortable margin.
This is what you get for being too fast. :narnar: Had he been 24 secs slower over the whole race he would have won and not had to do that extra lap.
Well done to Sean, Deetz & Manny for their podium places and for some great racing.:yahoo:
PS For those who want to know ~ Bens dummy went soon after the Bike bounced off the wall into his path.

I qualified 3rd but got promoted to 2nd, behind Ed, with Manny's start problem.

Started on R4-R3 and 37% fuel.

I got a great start and managed to be right on the pace from the green light for once :), hassling Ed from the off.  I guess he had more fuel than me as he seemed to be having trouble with some of the corners.  I got passed on lap 5 and into 1st, pulling out a gap for a while 'till his fuel load went down and he started to reel me in again.

It was 30 minutes by this stage, so time for my pitstop. Just before the pit stop I dropped one gear too many through the last chicane, this cost me some speed with slight engine damage.  During the pit stop I got my next 37% and two new fronts.  After the stop the car did not feel good with the odd tires on back and front.  It took about 5 laps for it feel normal again.

With 50 minutes of racing gone and with my lead over Deetz, and Manny and Ed's lead on me, I was settling down for a third place finish.  But then it all changed!  Manny, who had put in quite an amazing charge through the field having started half a lap behind everyone else, was in 2nd and had r3s on the front.  One small spin and his already thin tire got hot and thinner, next corner Pop!  He still finished 3rd though which is damn impressive.

So, there I am in second place when I see Ed is slowing down...Out of fuel! Unlucky mate . Heh heh, 1st place handed to me on a silver plater :D

Well done Deetz and Manny, and finishers! :yahoo:
