Ok, I've rebadged baldric as a games server. Made sense as everyone can see and knows of it already.
I've added percy as a new match server.

Its not running now because I'm trying to get steaminshite to create a new account called percy@deadmen.co.uk. So far it gets as far as "creating account" and just sits there, finally reporting it failed.... FEKIN STEAM AAARRGGH
ok got the account created (third time lucky). Am running an update then I'll start the server.
Right, I've not yet got a steam -update command to work.... having got bored after 5 tries I've started percy anyways.
I think the cause is the new percy account hasnt propergated around the steam server farm yet so will try again later.
All we need now is the clan associated press dept (aka TL) to make the public announcment.
From what I can gather you could have used an existing install to start a second server. You would need to create a couple of files for config and mapcycle (if it was to be different from existing mapcycle) e.g.
./hlds_run -game cstrike +ip 193.110.88.20 +port 27017 +maxplayers 16 +map cs_office +mapchangecfgfile "percy.cfg" +mapcyclefile "percymaps.txt" -autoupdate
thats what I did oldie. But remember when I copied over baldric to become percy I had to kill off the old steam cache files as we cant have two servers maintained by the same steam account.
The copy/edit bit wa easy.... it twer steam that was a pain.

Please, can we have a better name than Percy? Imagine trying to pimp TCS in the forums - it doesn't exactly sound 'lively & exciting'. We'll have so much piss taken out of us that it'll take us until December 2005 just to rehydrate.
While we're at it:
If dMw is to become community based then we need to assess what we call the community. There is little point making dMw a badge of community when the community is not called dMw. We need to think this one through a bit.
Is our community called MeatHook TCS? Dead Men Walking TCS? dMw TCS? etc or something else? We probably need to drop a name here or there so that we are left with just one.
Pimpage needs a brand to pimp. What is our brand?
I also need to get the name thing straight for the servers. Homer, Baldric and XXXX (I can't get myself to say that word again) are the servers, BlackAdder is the box? Someone please confirm.

Why? Because at the moment it doesn't exist.
We would then have:
Homer (homer.deadmen.co.uk:27015)
Baldric (baldric.deadmen.co.uk:27016)
MeatHook (meathook.deadmen.co.uk:27017)

27017 Baldric.. so still keeping in peoples minds that baldric is the match server?
I know this is just names but it means something to people who have been here a while.
....but then the server that everyone has known for some time as Homer suddenly disappears as does Baldric and the dns settings for 3 servers need changing. Imo the MeatHook is actually not a server in common parlance, it is the 'Hook' that is either Baldric or Homer depending on which server is full. Let's not change all the dns settings *and* the name, let's minimise the changes and just define MeatHook officially as our match server to give it a proper home - it has not been a server for some time (other than in generic use). Anyway, clan wars on the MeatHook sounds much better than Challenging on Percy or Homer.......

As smite has said everyone knows that MH/MeatHook means the server homer.deadmen.co.uk. Keep Baldric as the match server as it is known as the match server for all our members.
I'd suggest that 'Dead Men Walking' is our brand.
As to the 'MeatHook' debate ...
I think whatever we decide will soon become familiar - the new 'norm'.

There are no issues RE DNS, once I have the official concensus of those here on this thread I could implement the changes and can say with confidence all dns change related weirdness would be over in an hour or two.
