Can those people thinking about bringing a bottle of whisky please post below.
I don't think we need to have bottles and bottles so perhaps if just a few people bring their favourite and everyone else who wants to join can chip in to those bottles.
That way we won't have loads of bottles and those people who are bringing a bottle get their costs shared out.
So please post below if you're bringing a bottle (and probably if you're not planning to but would like to join in).
Thanks
Quote from: Lameduck;308703I've been looking for an excuse to open the 2nd Glenlivet - so by the time I get to the LAN it will be a half bottle. Least I could do :)
They're all nice folk at the OC and we wouldn't like to upset 'em. :D
......
I'm being a tight-wad and will be bringing sod all. However with my diplomatic hat firmly on, it might be an idea to pitch this as a 'tasting event' rather than 'drink as much as you can and pass out' event. These whiskeys are top notch and it seems a terrible shame to drink them when we're so wasted we might as well be drinking Bell's. I've been guilty of this in the past myself. So maybe a more refined and poncey tasting would be an idea?
Hopeless endeavour I know but at least I tried eh :)
Gurl..
I am not going to bring any wisky this time around, but I am more than happy to contribute towards the cost of someone else's bottle.
Smilo, I think you got it spot on, it's a tasting, not a pasting!
I'm not going to be bringing any whiskey but will gladly contribute towards the cost of a bottle...

My post didn't come true, so another try (my fifth, this time in firefox rather then chrome):
I'm with TL here, As i'm a total whiskey noob, I have no Idea what to bring, the only Whiskey I had was that half a pint at the October LAN. I'd rather contribute towards your finest choices, so that I can taste/drink/enjoy them too :)

Any preference?

There's a couple missing such as Jamesons and Talisker but they're in the everyday section.
I will hopefully be bringing a rather special 43 yo to the lan. This will be VERY limited to tasting a small amount :D hint look up glenfarclas 40 -42 yo. I may also bring some drinking whisky but as we have a drinking ban in place i think it would be taking the **** to drink a bottle of whisky :woot2: so may just have a taster bottle. I just hope the local wisky shop has some left.
We don't have a drinking ban in place, we just have a 'get pi$$ed but don't take the pi$$' ban in place (and that's from the hotel not us......)
Your 43 yr old sounds like fun and a strictly tasting sounds good.
I'm going to bring my little bookie along which is very informative so we have a guide to work from:

if we were going to do it property I'd be good to have a couple of malts from each of the regions so one can really experience the difference in taste.

Best bring 'em all - to avoid disappointment
whats the doublewood whiskey for penfold? "medicinal" purposes? :-)
Well it's popular with the ladies - they just love that Sherry after taste :)
