This is LAN critical.
The Steam 2010 UI has officially gone gold.
Therefore all LAN users must ensure that all of us are running the latest version of steam regardless of whether you do/ do not like the new interface so that we can all play.
If you aren't you may not be able to communicate with the rest of the lan room.
If you want the new steam UI to look more like the old setup select view and then select games list. In this view there is a small "+" button in the upper right corner, just above the scroll bar. Click on that "+" and select "Icons" instead of "Images" and you'll have a view more akin to the old interface.

April 29, 2010 - Steam client update released
A Steam client update is now available. To apply the update, click the File menu inside of Steam and then select "Check for Steam Client Updates...". The specific changes include:

- Fixed high CPU usage on some machines caused by WebKit windows running their frame loop at a fast rate even when not visible

Yep just saw and installed that one. I'm sure Valve know the dates for our LAN's and do this on purpose, the day before.
