As from tomorrow morning we will be implementing an automatic daily decay of 1 DKP.
What this means is that you will need to raid at least 2 nights a week to see an increase in your DKP, with 14 DKP being available to you each week if you raid on all 3 nights. For anyone missing two raids then you will see no increase in your DKP that week and if you miss all of the raids then you will have -7 DKP for the week.
We have also implemented a -7 DKP penalty for anyone signing up to a raid but not being online on their main at the raid start time. The DKP will be taken off unless you have made an officer aware you will be late or posted in the forum that you can no longer make the start time.
These changes are being made to encourage people to turn up for raids on time and to allow the officers to plan ahead, rather than hoping people who sign up will turn up for the raid.
Great to see two new aspects in our DKP system. Decay is only logical solution to ridiculous situation that many were put into - sitting at 100 for many weeks, being there on most raids, Then token drops and it is won by a guy who has 100DKP but shows up in raid very sporadically. That is unpleasant not only for the unlucky guy but also doesnt do any good for the guild.
The only question is if 33% decay isnt too much but I guess it was done for the sake of simplicity.
And DKP penalty is, well, it is deserved. IF you sign up and dont care to show up/let others know you cant make it, you shouldnt expect anything less. Although I am sure this will not happen so often - at least I hope :)
Seems Fair Dkp n Decay
Fair'n'square
one question: those that have negative or 0 DKP (like me), that -1 daily decay still applies or it stops once it would get one below zero?
EDIT: sorry, I should have looked at DKP first and then ask... For those who still wonder: you have to be above zero to be eligible for daily decay.
Encouragement? i see it more like a threat
So mainly ppl are just not allowed to have a life? seriously its summer, ppl are starting to go on vacation and its VM half the guild is probably watching football?
I personally is about to move so I just have no time at all, and now demi is also getting punished with -dkp because he needs to help me?
also i think its a bit high seeing you now only can get 14 dkp a week and that requiring that you put half your week into the game, maybe an adjustment is in order?
And to all of you with children needing attention, i feel sorry for you with theese changes
And now for the questions:
Does it affect us on standby? or only thoose who are standing as raiders?
And the penalty is that for accepted players only? or does tentative get penalty also?
The dkp is just a tool for us to see who should get loot .. We want to avoid a situation where someone has not raided for a long periods getting stuff that really should be going to the member that is putting in the effort. We have a few people maxed out on dkp at the moment that are not raiding and 3 months down the line they may turn up, bid all then not be seen again for another 3 months. It's all relevent as all members across the board get the decay. The only way to keep dkp going up is to raid or be in the raid group as standby. I don't think we can be more fair than that. So far dmr has only ever had 1 problem with loot distribution and this change should prevent that problem happening again.

It is for Accepted players only.
Semi, this really is not a threat. And Demi is not going to be punished for not raiding at all. Just count with me. Demi has 67 DKP. Closest active character competing for the same token type is Dokken with 80 DKP. After the raid, assuming Dokken doesnt roll for anything, Dokken will be at 87. That is 20 DKP difference. If decay wasnt implemented, Demi would have 69 DKP and Dokken 89 DKP. That is the same 20 DKP difference.
QuoteDoes it affect us on standby?
yes, everybody is affected by decay - that is the purpose so that people that are inactive for couple of months couldnt come, get a token or a highly coveted trinket and dissapear for couple of weeks again. On another note: people that are on standby for the night get their DKP for the raid so I see no difference here
QuoteAnd to all of you with children needing attention, i feel sorry for you with theese changes
I have a kid and a demanding wife who lets me raid only two times a week and still I think it is fair
Quoteseeing you now only can get 14 dkp a week and that requiring that you put half your week into the game
remember, this affect EVERYBODY. Everybody will gain maximum 14 DKP per week, nobody gets comparative advantage. And same like now, everybody who is raiding will gain weekly 21 more DKP than someone who isnt raiding.
Imagine Decay mechanic like this: You buy 21 pieces of pastry every week (Earn 21 DKP). Sometimes you eat (spend on loot) it all, sometimes you dont. Over time, the pastry grows hard and ultimately it is not edible (decayed DKP). You didnt eat it so you lost it. Still, nobody is taking away from you the possibility to eat FRESH pastry (spend DKP). And nobody is taking away from you the possibility to buy fresh pastry (to gain DKP by raiding) - this remains a choice of yours.
And because DKP is not pastry, it is not decayed all after a week, still a larger portion remains for further use :)
Awesome pastry analogy DFE :D
PS - I would ban people signing up as Tentative, I increasingly think it's a ridiculous option, one which makes it very hard to plan raids properly with a list of tentatives.
From a purely mathematical point of view Demi will actually benefit from these changes Drake. He has the 3rd highest attendance (as measured across May) in the guild, so the new decay system will actually increase his DKP advantage over the bulk of other raiders as they will all suffer the decay but he will gain DKP at a faster rate than most due to his higher attendance.
Personally I like the changes and it does stop some of the problems we have experienced in this guild before where a part-time raider comes back after an extended break and uses capped DKP on their first raid back to buy a rare/much-wanted trinket that others have been working towards for months.
