Was looking at the 5770 as an upgrade to my starting-to-show-it's-age 8800GT but the GTX460 looks sweet. (http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/12/nvidia-geforce-gtx-460-becomes-everyones-favorite-midrange-grap/)
Looks very good. Would like to also ask of I may OB of you were going high end what card would people be looking at?
I think the 5780 but would like some others opinions. Sorry to hijack OB

Check out the comparisons on the Tom's Hardware pages (linked in my original post) and you'll see that this mid-range is not lagging too far behind the 58xx.
BC2 DX11 comparison. (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-460-gf104-fermi,2684-12.html)
here is a better comparison between the 5770, 5850 and the 5870..
The 5770 is a great card indeed, i know quite a few that has em and their all pleased with em.
nah they arent to far behind the 5850, but the 5870 has a fair bit of headroom, the 5770 has aprox the same performance as a 4870 overall.

To give you a 'real life' comparison, I'm running a Geforce 260 and it runs Arma with all the eye candy turned on @ 1920x1600.
Interesting piece here (http://www.guru3d.com/news/palit-geforce-gtx-460-sonic-could-have-issues-/) about how review samples are not the same as the retail product :sideways:
Just another reason why buying release-day products is a bad, bad idea.
I was reading about this last night , one of the posters on the OCUK forums discovered it. He was really p,ed off with Guru3d because the review stated the card was so quiet, so he got in touch with the site yesterday to find out what was going on.
It was in these conversations that it was discovered that they were differnet cards. Read all about it Here. (http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18163265) Fun starts on page 3.
If those guys are right and the noise is as bad as they say it is, I'll be staying well clear of the 460.
It's like the GeForce FX all over again D:

I'm waiting for the stock cooler variants which should dramatically quieten things down.

Having listened to all the comments from a multitude of sources I've plumped for the Gigabyte GTX460 1GB OC (http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/1GB-Gigabyte-GTX-460-OC-3600MHz-GDDR5-GPU-715MHz-Shader-Clock-1430MHz-336-Cores-DL-DVI-mHDMI).
Delivery tomorrow, hopefully :yahoo:

Oh yes indeedy. :dribble:
First impressions? What a superb piece of kit. Powerful, quiet and easily over-clockable (if I feel I need to).
I shall be testing on ArmA tonight if anyone cares to join me :flirty:
