I kind of found a way to get to the lobby and was able to join an ongoing game but it seems my hardware wasnt able to handle the explosion so it freezes.
Tried it again and was able to join the lobby was able to set loadout but freezes at start(graphic card sucks).
Heres how:
1. Go to alien swarm\swarm\maps
2. Run lobby.bsp and youll skip the main menu entirely and jump to the lobby
(its like creating a pub game only this time your actually able to go to the lobby)
(I havent tried waiting for others to connect)
3. Exit to main menu
4. And try joning a public game( tried creating but it ctd aswell)
(when i tried playing offline it crashes)
5. And now your in the lobby and able set loadout and play
(it freezes on mine when the game started since graphic card cant handle it)

If the problem persists, Exit Steam and browse to the gameââ,¬â,,¢s installation folder. The following path is the default:
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\alien swarm\

Things to try when it doesnââ,¬â,,¢t launch:
Restart Steam
Restart Computer
Go the folder and launch the application directly
Validate integrity of game cache

Try this:
Go the folder in your steam index/common/alien swarm
delete the Type. file ââ,¬Å"srcds_runââ,¬Â and then revalidate the integrity of game cache. (I had to redownload 301 files)
