Title: Spawn killing
Post by: KKND on August 23, 2010, 08:21:16 AM
Yesterday evening there where 1 or2 men that keeps spawn killing.
I know Rizzy did warn them but,all they did was keep killing us in our spawn and laugh bout it.

I know the TOGA server runs a tool that kills people that try to spawn killing, maybe something for the BC2 dMw server just a thought.

Hi KK,

I'll circle back with Rizzy. Hopefully they were kicked from the server.

TOGA have a tool that sets up an "exclusion zone of sorts" is that what you are referring to?

Aye think thats the one i mean.
They have  protected areas in the attackers first base on each map, that kills a  defender if they are killing an attacker while being in that zone  themselves(from webby TOGA)
Dont know if they got kicked but they where gone later.

There where a few guys spawn killing, I warned them & from what I could tell they stopped entering our spawn, but they where shooting into our spawn from a distance still, I guess it all depends on what's classed as spawn raping/killing, as they wern't actually in our spawn I was happy to leave them too it & saw it as our sides problem that we couldn't organise ourselves better to get out of spawn.

Tool worth us having?

IMO, spawn killing should not occur on our server, regardless of where they are shooting from. Would you allow Mortar on your spawn?

It all depends on the map for me LR - for e.g. Isla Inocentes - the attackers regularly sit in there own spawn & snipe across the map towards the small starting island, should the defenders not be able to shoot back purely because there shooting into a spawn site?

I don't think defenders should be inside the attackers spawn, but to stop all interaction? I dunno, I'd like to see restrictions kept to a minimum where possible, Ninja's done a fine job of streamlining the rules so far & I think the more we add to it, the more we'll put people off playing on our servers.

I'm looking into this now. I think they're using Procon. Will need to do some testing first. Updates to follow in BC2 admin section.

I agree with Rizzy. However, I am looking into a tool that will allow us to paint an exclusion zone that will keep Publics honest. If you're getting sniped in your spawn, get out of there quicker.. If it's getting out of hand, report it and the admin can make a judgement call on whether or not to inform the offender to back off.

BC2 is a very fluid game, one moment you are getting sniped in your own spawn, the next moment you've taken out one of the MCom stations which will shift the focus. Work as a team within your squad or as multiple squads and play smart.

See you on the server...

All good points.

AFAIK there are only a couple of maps that give this opportunity (sniping spawn), and I usually think to myself that it is probably best to just be aware that spawn is being sniped and spawn with my finger on the sprint button and quickly move to cover.
If there are alot of perma-snipers on the other team they will usually lose once we break out.

The tool sounds like a great idea

Actually, on the island map people can shoot the guy behind the UAV. I had it happen to me a few times so I wonderd how they were doing that. I tryed it on Fatdanand it worked easily.

The other day on our server though there was a guy who actually sitting in our spawn killing people, he used one of the boats to go back to our spawn and kill people there.

You cant stop people that are sniping from there base into ours thats just the way it is.
It's our job then to kill them fast enuf so whe can run into their base and blast them away.
But getting killed by people that coming from behind like Pete said is just a no go.

.

Well you can shoot them back..... Which as FatDan will testify... Got me a banned for "SpawnRape" lmao.
He was sniping from his uncapbase, we were at the flag in a conquest game.

Its a loose/loose situation.

Yeh I remember thinking at the time how the hell he managed to do this, as that part of the map is grayed out for the defenders....
