The forum will be unavailable tomorrow (Friday 17th) from 12-1PM.  During the outage the forum will be moved to BA4 and the DNS for //www.deadmen.co.uk changed to point to the new server.

Just so people know, the reason for the move is to try to improve the responsiveness of the forum software as it seems it requires a little more grunt than Gandalf's old web server can deliver.  So fingers crossed the forums will be a little more zippy when they return!

I've been doing some testing and the home page will still take longer to show that the forum pages.  As far as I can see the delay is caused by the TS Server widget and we have no control over the remote server used to build the app.  The main improvement you should see is on the forum pages.

We'll have to consider dropping it then I guess, trouble is it is a lovely tool to see who is about and online.

IIRC the home-page loaded slowly even before the widget, I remember asking snokio to compare load times and he agreed with me.

Minor issue with email notifications. We need to re-train the carrier pigeons to fly to their new home so we hope to have this working soon.

KKND still can't get on the site, the error he gets is:

Site relocation in progress! Please update your DNS or wait for a few hours! (The time is now 12:25 GMT 2010-09-17)

(ignore the time, he tried after I successfully logged on)

ok, the email problem has been resolved. You'll all start getting post and PM notifications again. Also, if you know of anyone who has tried to register in the last week, get them to check their emails as hopefully they'll have their confirmation emails now. If not, then they can use the Contact Us link at the bottom and we can process their registrations manually. Apologies for any inconvenience, it was the kittens fault....
