Had a PM from Gorion last night and thought I would copy it here in confidence. Seems like he has had a nasty period in his life which was why he had to leave WoW at the time.
I've replied in a friendly & supportive way but it might be nice for those who know him to make contact again via PM as I got the impression he's had a torrid few years.
Quote from: GorionHello Paul,
I hope everything's been fine these last two years. First things first; there's a lot of explaining to do.
Back then my sister created a mess, shite literally hit the fan but alas she left with an Italian guy she knew for only two months. She's been living in Italy for the last two years; working part-time and attending University. My parents had to finally give in; they couldn't stop her as she was 18 back then and they finally let her go. At least she's happy.
After that I sort of "fell off the map"; I decided that certain things had to change and that meant that it was time to finally quit WoW. I was too addicted to the game and wouldn't have managed to quit the "normal" way.
If you remember, back then my rig was giving me loads of problems which took over eight months to finally resolve. During that time I applied to a vocational college. I had applied before, yet failed to gain entry since the entrance test was all Maths.
Anyway, this time the entrance exam was different and consisted of English/Maths/Maltese and after waiting three bloody months to receive the results I was accepted and attending college in four days (notice was a bitch).
I'm currently about to start my third year. Doing a BTEC National Diploma in I.T with five years left to finish with a Bachelors Degree.
My method in order to achieve this was crude and draconic at best, yet it was the only way to turn my life around. I really didn't want to spend the rest of my life in a dead-end job with ridiculous wages.
I'm sure I pi.ssed a lot of people off with my actions but that was the only option that would actually work; at least in my case. Haven't visited the community since then, but I honestly miss the crowd.
I sincerely apologise for my behaviour and I honestly hope that my apology is accepted.
Regards,
Lydon (Gorion)
P.s: I haven't checked any forums yet, wouldn't be surprised if I was told to shove off after all this time. I'll visit my pm folder everyday waiting for a reply.
Quote from: TeaLeafHi Gorion, long time no hear from! No apology required, you'd given us a hint at the time that there were some problems in your life in regards your sister, so it's just good to hear from you that you're ok and that she is too. Re the WoW I quit recently too, at least until the expansion, I've not been on in the last couple of weeks and there's a good chance I will not return at all - I've not had a break from raiding since Molten Core days and been raiding at Realm 1st level since TBC, so the break has been seriously good for me - and allows me time to complete my studies which are (ironically) in Mathematics!
Really good to hear from you though and it would be great if you can stick around in the community and be online with us when you can. Not necessarily in WoW, but maybe pop on our TS3 server at some point and say high to the folks, they'd be real pleased to hear from you.
Keep in touch Lydon, and jump on TS3 and say hello to some people when you get a chance! You've certainly not been told to shove off and you're welcome back!
:)
