Not sure how to put this so here goes :P
Next October in 2011 we as a community will be celebrating Lan XX or Lan 20.
Now this is a big milestone for dMw and for our community. I hope you will be all there to share it with me and the attendees but on a serious note its our 20th anniversary and I want it to be remembered!
So my idea is seeing as we have 12 months to go to put our heads together and think whether there's anything apart from a cake and party poppers that we want out of the event.
Maybe Greek can cook us a cake? or the worst tasting cake wins? :P
We could do a paint balling day if there's something close to march lion/ Fatbob or a team building day?
Also if people are keen we can do another dMw away weekend for drinking? Maybe not abroad but to somewhere more local some time before.
Lastly I think we all need to make a concerted effort to try and firstly fill the room for the event but also get few of the previous attendees even for a day trip to say hi drink beer and talk about old times.
I can't believe its almost LAN XX and my first was LAN V!
What are your thoughts?
I'll be in New Zealand next October so I will not, sadly, be able to attend LAN XX.
Unless we host it in NZ of course :)
(Git btw).

Lucky fecking git!!!!
my thoughts? ...don't really want to think about what'll happen for lan XXX
I'm gonna try to be atleast at the October LAN next year, if so then it would also be my 5th LAN :P
Funnily enough, this exact thing sprung to mind yesterday as I cleared my hovel up ready to put the PC back in place.
I came across a LAN IV CS Tourney Medal, from October 2003.
I just couldn't bring myself to thow it out!!! A lot of time and enjoyment since that LAN so I think XX should be special as well.
I am going to try to be there for Lan XX....... What could be more special than that :P
Well I'll have finished uni, and in this economy, I doubt I'll have a job. LAN XX here I come!
We should have a retro gaming comp....CS1.6 or previous
I'll be there:D

Yea and original Unreal Tournament, (I still have all the disks )
Old school unreal now your talking well up for that
What about Pong?
And bring with you your old CRT's?
I suggested running an 'Omegathon' style competition over the weekend. For those who've not heard of this, it's a competition run at the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) every year:
QuoteThe Omegathon is a three-day elimination tournament. Twenty Omeganauts are chosen from those who pre-order PAX passes, and compete in games from every category (tabletop, console, PC) culminating in a live championship match on the big stage during PAX closing ceremonies. The final game is always out of left field: we've done PONG, COMBAT, Tetris, Halo3, excitebike, and last year was Skeeball
have your thought about having an xbox lan compo?
say have half a dozen xbox's linked up?
Nah, that's to new. At Kings house there's still an Atari 1040 STFM though...
I like the principle here, it has legs.
Eliminate 2 or 3 per round and get down to a king of LAN. The longer you last the harder it gets with more beer consumed. Run it as points......
CS
L4D
Dogfighter
NFS
Deagle
8 player killer (pool) http://pool1.funorb.com/g=pool/game.ws?js=1

That's my theory - but I reckon it would be more interesting to have 1v1 games in a straight knockout. For example:
UT3 1v1 Instagib
CS Source 1v1 Deagle map
FIFA/PES 1v1
Starcraft 2 1v1
Dogfighter 1v1
Pong? Duck Hunt? Something retro would be awesome for a finale.
Etc etc.
Now, obviously not everyone has all these games - but I'm sure we could hot-seat a couple of PC's which have them installed (much like we did with Ninja's for the racing comp last weekend).
The wider the variety of the games the better imo, and for extra amusement keep the game choices hidden from the contestants until each round begins...
Like it, don't like the idea of UT3 though, I'm crap at it. We may need to level the playing field a little, or keep it relatively simple. You missed NBA....which by the way I now have. Once I get a controller I'm going to play it until my thumbs bleed so I can teach you a jazz lesson! (oh and Fifa)
Fair enough - I'm just throwing ideas out there.
NBA2K11 is pure, bonafide win. You didn't do Larry Bird's reputation any favours with your 'performance' though.
