Title: MTB'ers outing?
Post by: Sn00ks on October 20, 2010, 11:26:44 AM
Some friends and I go to Coed-y-Brenin each year for a weekend sometime in March/April/May. We rent one or more self-catering cabins at a 'holiday village' near-by, called Bronaber if you want to look it up. They sleep either 4 or 6 but probably best as 3 and 5 as one bed is a double, although good friends can share that if they want :norty:.

So the reason I am posting is to see if anyone would be interested in joining us? Don't worry you do not need to be a XC racing whippet or DH monster. You don't need a full-suspension bike, a decent hardtail will do, I used one for the first two years I went.

If you've never ridden a trail centre and you go mountain biking then you really ought to try one. No slogging through mud and it is all rideable, or at least it is supposed to be . There are a number of routes of varying difficulty so you can do what you want. If there are loads of us we normally split into smaller groups, any more than 5 and it gets difficult to keep track of everyone.

We usually aim to get there midday on Friday and stop off to do the Marin trail en-route, go out for a play all day Saturday, a short ride Sunday morning and then back home. The cabin owners let us use them for Sunday lunch and showers on the understanding that we give them a good clean.

So is anyone tempted? If so we can start to organise things and bandy some dates about.

Sounds cool, was down in Wales last week and did the trails at nant-yir-arian,
great riding and scenery but honestly cant compare to the seven stanes trails.Glentress is the nirvana of mtbing outside Whistler, and Innerliethen has some of the best downhill in Britain. You should arrange a holiday at the seven stanes, i would meet up with you guys and be trail guide for the day.
ps.you aint done a trail till youve done it on a hardtail :narnar:.
