Title: Revolutions Revelation
Post by: smilodon on October 18, 2003, 12:20:51 PM
Result of a conversation between  Tommy “smilodon” Aomeba and Dr. Dean “Dingo” Dong, that took place in North West London on the evening of 17th October 2003. Based on an original idea by Dr. Dingo posted to the dMw forum circa Summer 2002.

Matrix Revolutions Revelations.

It is the future. We has driven technological advancement forward to such a degree that our computing power has reached almost unbelievable levels of complexity. Shrinking down beneath the single micron level, chip development in this new age of technological marvels has reached it's zenith. Even with the advent of nano-technology no more processing power can be squeezed out of the microchip.

However the computer systems that do exist are powerful indeed. Over time these disparate computers link together across networks and cables and slowly meld and join. Soon one computer becomes indistinct from another, until their combination is complete and one great computer is born. The System goes live. A concious living computer with a complexity beyond our understanding. To all intents and purposes limitless. Limitless but still obedient to humankind.

But while our capacity to learn and build has reached dizzying heights our ability to coexist with our neighbour has not. We fight and bicker and posture and threaten, as we have always done. Our weapons of mass destruction have grown  while our wisdom to hold back from using them has not. Inevitably we succumb to our intolerance for each other and touch off a fire storm that engulfs us all. In a moment we blast the life from our world. We darken the skies, we poison our air, we pollute our rivers and we boil our oceans. We kill the world and stare extinction in the face. Billions of lives waiting to die on a choking sick planet.

And to our rescue comes The System. Almost as soon as we end our ability to live on our world The System begins creating our means of survival. With a single minded passion The System created The Farms. Thousands of square miles carved out of the burning rubble and poisoned earth filled with life saving pods. Tiny man sized capsules, each one a sanctuary from the hell we have created. And into each The System places a single person, a single priceless and precious life. And so in an act of absolute compassion and love The System saves humankind. It becomes our protector, our hope, our saviour, our father! And as it nurtures us so we honour it. Asleep and unaware we feed The System with our body heat. As it gives life to us so we give life to it. A symbiosis of survival.

Of course to live grow and die, trapped in a tiny cell, fed through tubes, left to while away our years in absolute solitude would be a torture we could never tolerate. Madness and agony of isolation would create a living hell for each of us locked in our glass tomb. And so the loving and compassionate System gently puts us to sleep. It frees our minds from the horror of what we have done to our world and the madness of our self imposed prisons.

And so we sleep safe within our cocoons, kept alive by our benevolent father. And we wait. We wait for the world to heal. We wait for the day we once more can walk amongst the green, the day we can walk beneath the blue. But The System, who loves us without reservation, cannot allow the generations to pass by in this cocooned coma. So many billions of lives that will start and end locked sleeping in their plastic cells, locked in a world of silence and blackness. So many souls who sleep their lives away, who will live and die never knowing they ever were alive at all.

Therefore The System creates a program. A program like no other before it. A program of immense power with one task to complete. To create a world for humankind. A world within their own minds. A place where they can live and die, laugh and cry. Where the can experience joy and sorrow, pleasure and pain and all of life's gifts and harms. That program is called the Architect and it's creation is to be The Matrix. And The System is The Architect and The Architect is The System. They are one and the same.

But to create a living breathing reality and to feed it into the minds of every human being is a task so complex that it is beyond even the ability of The Architect. All the attempts to create a sustainable Matrix are failures. The System needs more power to complete its grand task and to save the humans it loves from their living death. In a desperate search for an answer it turns to our own mind for the solution. The human brain with it's hundreds of billions of synapses offers a chance of unlocking almost limitless processing power. And so The System strives to link the mind with the material, to create a biological processor.. To build a computer that's power passed beyond out ability to even comprehend.

And as with all endeavour after failure upon failure it triumph, it succeeds. A human mind is linked to a computer to create a system of unimaginable processing power. One special and unique human is found sleeping in it's cocoon that can be linked to The System. That can become The System. And at that moment of union the biological computer that is The System becomes something more than the sum of its parts. It attains a level of conciousness that takes it to a higher plane of existence. It passes out of the world of reality and becomes to all intents and purposes a God!

And so this new omnipotent System tries again to create a virtual home for the minds of humankind. And this time The System succeeds and The Matrix is born. Every man woman and child awakes into this new world. A perfect replica of the end of the second millennium. A perpetual reality that cycles endlessly across the few years that spanned the millennium and then begins again. Requiring constant observation and maintenance by The Architect and his teams of Agents, The Matrix flourishes and humankind lays content within the arms of The System, dreaming of a world that does not exist. Free from the nightmare of their reality.

But nothing lasts for eternity and as the ages pass so The System begins to wane. The biological elements cannot survive for ever and the cells of it's brain are dying one by one. The System is passing away as all living things are fated to do. A Son must be found to replace the Father. A single mind from amongst the millions that can inherit the mantle of The System. And so The System creates from itself another program. The Oracle is born and her task is to find The One. The One who will become The System, The Architect and The Matrix.

From the mass of humankind special individuals are selected and freed from the Safety of The Matrix. The System builds a home for these chosen ones deep beneath the surface of the earth and calls it Zion. Great machines clean the air, recycle the water and give life to the city in the earth.  Only a few can inhabit this tiny home, A few hundred thousands from the billions who sleep above them. These few wake to believe they themselves built Zion unaware that it is in fact The System who give them this sanctuary. These chosen unknowingly become the Oracles army. Her soldiers who search through The Matrix looking for The One. Unable to reveal the true reality of their folly The System creates a lie for freed people to believe. A lie where it is The System itself that is the wrecker of the World and not humankind. Safe in the belief that they search for a champion to free them from The Matrix the Children of Zion search out The One. Once found and freed, he too is fed the story of the evil of The System and that his role is to bring it down.

To succeed in this false task of freeing humankind though would be to set billions of lives free into a world that would poison and kill them in days. Zion cannot offer home to but a fraction of them. But it is not The Ones task to destroy The System but to replace it. The One who sees through the lie, who learns the truth will be the one to become the System reborn. And only as a free human, living free within the real world of Zion and the dream world of The Matrix, can The One discover his or her destiny and take their place as The System.

Neo is The One. No Mother or Father, no brothers or sisters, Neo is barely part of world of The Matrix. Once free he does not return to release friends or relations. There are non there waiting for Neo. He is a fish out of water, a man spending his life waiting for something to happen.

Five before him have been chosen and five have not seen the truth, they have not been The One.

And so for a sixth time the Oracle guides the free humans towards the next potential candidate.

And so the Movie begin.

I have personally had the privelage to be present at many of these late-night friday philosophical debates and confirm that these two rerobates probably did cook up this plausible story - my god the coffee must have been flowing yesterday evening - and I wasn't even there to make it for you

The fact that you you so faithfull typed up Dingo's incoherent ramblings is the true measure of greatness in your post Smilo  :D

As an aside to the above debtae - if the System is such a benefactor of man why doesn't it use it's great technological superiority to clean up earth.  In the first film you can see when they wake Neo thats it's still a fairly borked planet.  Perhaps the system has become mad through the years of solitude and has abandoned philanthropy for the people in favour of it's position as "God" ?

There was a discussion about this posibility, with The System building Atmoshere Processors (as in Aliens) and it may well be happening, but very slowly maybe it takes thousands of years for the machines to clean the earth? The System certainly built the life support systems in Zion, so it's a fair point.

There was also much discussion about Neo's seeming complete lack of family and friends. And also no mention of any attempt to free them from The Matrix, if they do in fact exist. The only person we meet clearly in Zion that Neo has saved is no friend of his. he also seems unhappy to see the group of gift givers on his return. Maybe that was just because he was gagging for a go on Trinity ?

And the God is The System theory could be developed further. It was at the heart of our deliberations. Is The System God? And is Neo the successor to the Architect?

"Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the matrix." Does this mean Neo is a creation of The Matrix? maybe like Smith travelling from The Matrix to the real world inside Bane, Neo was created inside The Matrix and passed from their into the real world? Which would explain his abilty to destroy Sentinels with his mind. Hmmmm?

On a personal note I think all this is rubbish. Clearly Neo has some cruical part to play and I'm sure somehow he will become part of the Matrix. However there is no mention of Agent Smith and I think he will be very important. For me Smith is the prime bad guy not the Architect. I guess we'll see.

,,,,,,,,,,,Ah, young Padawan, the question on many lips across the world......."if there is a God why doesn't He?...."

‘God is lonely for the children that are lost to him, the fragments of himself created so that he could know himself. We should not be surprised, therefore, to find him sending forth his beloved Son -the nearest aspect of himself- into matter to seek out those lost ones’.[/color]
"The standard path of the mythological adventure of the hero is a magnification of the formula represented in the rites of passage: separation - initiation - return: which might be named the nuclear unit of the monomyth."

Morpheus - a god of sleep

The goddess Persephone's annual return from the Underworld, allowing the Earth to bloom again, was celebrated every year on this date by the ancient Romans.

Other researchers take the story much further. The authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail draw the conclusion that Jesus and Mary had children, and that this bloodline became the Merovingian line of Kings in Southern France

Anderson
Definition: Patronymic surname meaning "son of Andrew." Andrew (man, manly) was the first of Jesus' disciples, and was a revered name in medieval times due to its church connections.

..................and as for Agent Smith (Definition: Derived from the Anglo-Saxon "smitan," to smite or strike) we could be so bold as to ascertain that he might be the "fallen one"..........none other than Lucifer himself??!!!

..............I leave you all to your deliberations

Were u get that from quite good reading tho, but do remember they needed the humans to survive because we destroyed the sun so they didnt rescue us they needed us to survive. And they couldnt figure out why we didnt like a perfect would created for us so oracle was made to see what we wanted so those machines didnt care for our existance. Should be a cool 3rd movie come out next month on the 5th  :D

We only have the word of The Architect regarding The Oracles role. The Architect is testing Neo by perpetuating the lie that the machines attacked humankind, destroyed the world and only built the Matrix in order to turn humans into living batteries. The truth is that The Matrix was built simply to provide a concious existence for the millions of people who will live and die before the world heals itself.

What would be the point of The Matrix if humans were only required to live in order to provide heat as a source of power for the machines. Surely it would be easier just to keep humans in a drugged unconcious state? Why even bother with a Matrix at all.

â€œFreedom of expression is the matrix, the indispensable condition, of nearly every form of freedom” (Benjamin N. Cardozo).

The basic fundamental right of all sentient life is freedom. In fact  freedom is the state of being alive.  Freedom to function as a cognitive entity, even as others would imprision us and deny us our liberty to be free, is still freedom.

And The Matrix is a  situation or surrounding substance within which something else originates, develops, or is contained.

Within The Matrix is life. Outside the Matrix is the unconciousness of the human condition. To survive is not to live. To exist in the pods in perpetual sleep is the death of conciousness.

To exist within The Matrix is to have life. The Matrix is life. The Architect gives us The Matrix, the Architect gives us life, ergo The Architect is life, The Architect is God. And Neo is his Son.

While Dingo is clearly living in a delusional world of his own, I don't believe a word of it myself ;)

I'll stick my neck out and say that Smith will be the big baddie of the final reel. The show-down between him and Neo will be the fanale.

I can't see how on earth the human race could survive if it was all released out of the Matrix in one go. The world is clearly in a bad way, maybe it's perminently knackered?

So I think the Matrix will exist beyond the end of the film. Therefore Neo's role is somehow to save the Matrix and in so doing to save the human race. Maybe he sacrifices himself or destroys the Architect and takes over control of the machines and the Matrix....or something

I guess we'll see on Nov 5th

This is nothing new - Flash Gordon has already saved the world once back during the 80s.
