Title: Forum corruption - rollback
Post by: TeaLeaf on February 14, 2011, 04:20:36 PM
We had a slight technical hitch this afternoon when we tried to restore photos from the prior forums Photopost albums into the current forum structure.  The long and the short is that we have had to revert to a backup of the forums from November 2010.

Clearly we will have a LOT of work to do to bring the forum back up to where they were, but please PM a Council Member if you notice something that needs updating.

...and yes, we're reviewing the backup plans that did not work for us this time.

Please be patient.  Put your feet up, relax, normal service will be resumed shortly.

One of the things this has totally FUBAR'ed is the supporting members status.

I need to go through the payments and reset them all which is fine but time-consuming. If you've renewed your Supporting Member Status, can you please drop me a pm to make it quicker and easier for me to correlate them off.

If, by the end of it you haven't got SM status then just let me know.

Thanks

PS. Don't worry if you're on the following list. This only affects people who have renewed between November and today.

Another issue seems to be that we've lost all the user accounts of everyone who joined since November.

Oops, should we stick an announcement on the Steam group or something that pop's up.

Assuming that they are gone forever.

I suppose because the majority of us renew our subs in January, this is going to get quite messy.

I have a list of everyone who's paid on Paypal so it's not too bad. It's just a hassle setting them up manually.

Instead of tracking them all the way back to individual dates, I'll just reset everyone's subs to run until March 2011 so everyone will get an extra couple of months free to make up for the slight loss in service :)

would it be prudent on all the game servers to post a message to say if you joined after the date please reapply as info lost due to forum issue. Some people who game don't visit the forums as often as some of us

Not really.  We still retain all Paypal records and did an audit on 23 January 2011 for SM status, so it will not get 'messy'.

As a general point for this thread, I think it would help if we just post on what we need to get done to bring things up to speed, rather than speculate on what might get messy please!

I expect we'll see a few late nights from the Admin team over the coming weeks........ :frusty:

Aye to the idea about game server messages Sulky.  GLs please sort!

Already posted an announcement on the Steamgroup page.

Thanks for the offer but I think we're getting there.

I now gone through and reinstated supporting members. However there's 17 people who have paid on paypal and whose names I don't know (Basically not LAN attendees). I think they're most likely our friends from WoW so if you haven't got your Supporting Member status then please send me a PM with your real name so I can restart it.

Thanks
