Title: Custom player models and 1.6
Post by: JB on October 19, 2003, 10:48:38 PM
I've finally found out how to make your own custom models work with 1.6 and have have the shield animation correct.  I'ts from a posting on the csnation website.

GETTING CUSTOM PLAYER MODELS WORKING WITH PROPER ANIMATIONS-
1.Download the following things:
this (http://www.nsr.deadmen.co.uk/spam/jeds_hlmv_v1.0.zip) this (http://www.nsr.deadmen.co.uk/spam/compiler&decompiler.zip)
this (http://www.nsr.deadmen.co.uk/spam/studiomdl.zip)
Extract them all to the same folder.
3.Start up HLMV.
4.Go to tools, configure tools
5.Where it says Path to 'studiomdl.exe', type in where it is in the folder you extracted.
6.Where it says Path to 'mdldec.exe', type in where it is in the folder you extracted them into.
7.Click ok, and go to decompile under the tools menu.
8.Choose one of your 1.5 models and wait for it to finish decompiling.
9.Get the 1.6 player models and decompile one of those.(let me know if u need these, they took some finding)10.Go to edit qc file under the tools menu, open the 1.6 model's qc. Copy everything under //21 hit box(es).
11.Close it, and open the 1.5 qc. Select everything under //20 hit box(es) and paste.
12.Save it and open the place where you decompiled the 1.6 model.
13.Right-Click and go to "Arrange Icons-By Type.
14.Delete the .mdl, textures, and the qc, then go to the edit menu, then to select all. Copy that.
15.Open the folder where you decompiled the 1.5 model and paste. Click on Yes to All. Wait for it to finish.
16.Open HLMV again, and go to tools, and compile model.
17.Go to the 1.5 models qc, and wait for it to decompile. It should decompile correctly.
18.Open the model, then see if it has the shield animations, if it does, you have succesfully compiled your model.
19.Repeat this process for each other model.

In the mean time, csnation (http://csnation.counter-strike.net/content/sotd.php?action=calendar) has dumped all of it's 1.5 stuff and is now using only 1.6 compatible models.  :D

Just go to http://www.csnation.net/ (http://www.csnation.net/) and you can find loads of 1.6 skins new ones.

As many of the 1.5 models will not work!

Btw dont promote your email address at least have it listed without the @ sign as it will be spammed....
