What it says in the title, golf, on your browser, Adobe Flash, nice HD photos of the courses and a place to pretend you are good at the most frustrating game in the world, at least until the online version drives you crazy.

Top tips for beginners:
- Get a member to send you an invite to join rather than joining off your own back. You'll both get a free gift!
- Buy the Starter Plus Club Set for 99 credits as soon as you reach the correct level to unlock this. Vast improvement over the standard clubs.
- Only enter ReadyToGo tourneys for your own level. Every entrant is on a level playing field you will place better than open events. The winner normally gets 31-32 for 9 or 62-63 for 18 at best and a -2 will double your credits quite often.
- Read the WGT forum for putting and chipping tips! Get good at these and you'll score far better.
- Pitching is far easier than chipping and far less frustrating.

Had a good nine at St Andrews Old Course, only +2 and no more than 2 putts a hole. Getting there :)
I find its almost as frustrating as the real game and not conducive to a calm half hour.

Rofl - accept a 2 putt as the correct way of doing it!  I'd probably pitch it from there or if you have to put then go WAY right and then aim it to cross over the fringe above the bunker again on the way to the hole.

Every time I've tried a flop from on the green it duffs. I had to putt up the hill to the right and 2 putt from 24ft to get my bogie.

I'm affraid I have been re-positioned under the thumb of the wife today :(. Since I'm working all day she's off with me about playing wgt, (only a matter of time) and I have to take her out for an Italian later. So probably can't make the 7.45 game. What about tomorrow?

I enjoyed my first 'competitive' game with you both. Thanks for the patience you showed me :)
It bugs me how 'wrong' you can be, getting out of a bunker and up the side of a raised green, :eyebrow: but we live and learn.
Look forward to the next session.

It's U.S. Open time on WGT.com!!! :woot2:
http://www.wgt.com/tournaments/details.aspx?name=Virtual_US_Open_Qualifying_Round&ID=c6de7394-3aa2-4b98-abb3-9ee100a6e9ef

I expect to see a score posted in Qualifying from our regular swingers!!!

It will be an achievement if one of us gets through to the competition proper, the cut is set at 64 for Master level that is, not sure about the other levels but I'm sure competition will be fierce.

But you have a month of Unlimited play on the new course Congressional, to achieve that score so let's be havin' ya!!

All I'll say is that a 208yd Par 3 10th hole into a 6mph wind and with the cup some 27 feet below the tee, does not justify taking a 3 iron instead of a 2H wood to get over the lake.  My ball almost got dry.  Almost by about 3 feet, then sunk.  Grrr.   Was -1 until that point but rescued it with a bogey so am level par at 11.  I'll let you know how I get on!
Title: World Golf Tour - www.wgt.com
Post by: TeaLeaf on May 13, 2011, 04:41:25 PM
Well, it's over.  Tough course, so easy to almost make an automatic +1 by missing a fairway (30-40% rough) or by mis-judging putt strength (Tournament green speed is way up on the ole stimp'o'meter).

Out in a one under par 35.  Bogied 2 and then recovered with birdies on 4 and 8.
Back in a one under par 34 with a very up and down back nine:  bogies on 10, 12 & 18 (missed the putt from 4ft by a whisker) and birdied 11,13,16 & 17.

Final score: 69 for a two under par round and a mere 568th on the Leader board :roflmao:.   How the leaders are down at 56 is beyond me

Very happy with that, had to spend a chunk of time calculating putt strength.  The course is a little long though for a lil'ole Tour Pro rank player like me; there's a couple of holes I cannot reach in regulation even with perfect shots

How did you do Albert?
Title: World Golf Tour - www.wgt.com
Post by: albert on May 14, 2011, 03:07:14 PM
I had a 78 :(. I was level at the turn, -1 after 10 then I lost a ball in water and then my mind went and I was playing for XP points after that!

Trying again.

Level par after 9, some long putts holed to make it this far, was 3+ after 4! Hit the bunker on 10, all the water put me right off! Back to +1 :( Then a monster drive and a perfect 3 Wood to leave 2 yds and a sunk birdie putt on the massive 507 yrd par 4 11th! Level again. Only the 3rd par of the round holed at 12! Woefull double at 14.( ~@%$)

Final score +3, 4 stroke improvement, very hard this course.

WGT.com are going for it this month, CTTH up for the front 9 of Sandwich!!

Hopefully they'll put out the full 18 soon :)

I think this was to show EA Tiger Woods 2012 which had August on it, that having the course isn't the only thing the pubic want, they want the tourney as well!

190.3 first attempt.

It cost me 55 points, I didn't hit the middle of the front of the green, I hit the front right and I kicked off. I think the land and roll is the shot there.

Title: US Open Course
Post by: albert on May 07, 2012, 01:37:15 PM
Hi All,

I don't know about anyone else but I'm loving the US Open Course Olympic Club. Might be worth sharing some notes on the nearest the pin, I'm trying desperately to get under 100 points on the back 9 challenge:

HB means heartbeat, got it close. BSp full backspin used. r2l right to left wind etc. The 4th is crazy, 1st and 9th are tricky to get close, all others, I've gotten within 2 ft at some point making notes like this. Still only got 131 as a best so far. So TL these figures might help you as you have similar clubs, I'm using G-ID balls on a budget.

1st - 10% - 12mph r2l wind 7 ft left just carried bunker down slope (8mph head wind 100% BPs close strength)
2nd - 100% of 200 club not enough with 13 wind into face (same wind with 210 club 97.5% 2ft past and right HB)
3rd - 100% 90 club wid behind 12 HB BSp - 100 90 club no BSp 13ft short (14 head wind 90% 115 club 6 ft HB)
4th - 42% flop 64 deg - 8ft past HB full BSp
5th - 100% 115 club wind behind 13 HB (also 11 behind same shot 1.38 ft HB)
6th - 97% of default club wind 12 r2l HB 98% slightly more in face wind HB (9 mph head wind 100% BSp try it again)
7th - 95% of def club wind 12 l2r - HB - Try 94% (Wind 12 behind tried 92.5% came up short) (11mph head into face 98% came up 11 short)
8th - 75% BSp (Also worked into 17 mph head wind) Try 73%
9th - 98% (l2r 11 mph slight head wind 98% was too much 24ft)

If anyone fancies a game, let me know.

So now there are apps for IOS and Android that basically delivery the same experience of WGT as the web version does. I played the Android version today and it's very slick and fast. It looks great on my Tab S.

I can see me getting into WGT again as the quality and experience of this game tick all the boxes.

I'll give it a crack, but I'm expecting a typical score of 200+ :narnar:

4th is seriously impressive, so I'm intrigued, what was your actual score?
Title: World Golf Tour - www.wgt.com
Post by: albert on March 02, 2015, 02:51:09 PM
I scored 76.55 with GI-D cheap balls with virtually no spin but I've yet to get every hole score under 10. I've played it a lot so have some very certain tips.

Hole 2 - don't change anything in terms of club, pitch etc. aim a few feet right of the hole and power just under 50%.

Hole 4 - same as 2 change nothing aim half the screen right of the flag, power just under 50% and it'll roll
gently to the hole from way right.

7 and 8 are a bitch but I have them nailed.

So Full shots for both, your loftiest wedge, full backspin, aim about as far right as possible without aiming on the rough. Fringe is good.

Hole 7- out of rough, power just under 50% with a 64 degree wedge. Less power is better than too much.

Hole 8 - same as 7 but not out of rough and hit 25% power on the nose.

Again both are full shot, not pitch or flop as the full shot gets the ball further in the air to a landing zone way right of the pin to trickle down the hill to the hole.

That score was 4th at Master when I hit it and 47 in All at last look.

😊
