D&D can be a fun and really involving game but of course with every game there needs to be guidelines which we would like you to follow, the great thing about D&D most of the rules can be changed to the liking of the players these are called House Rules and are not set in stone but are there to improve the overall enjoyment of the game for everyone!
1. Listen to the DM
Who ever is the Dungeon master on your game you must listen carefully to him to get every bit of infomation he will tell you (Your location, monsters and NPC) without a proper DM doing a good job, it would be just another board game. A DM has to get players to visually see the board like if they was actually there! So beacuse of this if the DM is speaking and he tells you to shut up dont be offended in anyway he just doing his job :)
2. Its up to the DM not you
It is the DM's game after all if you start bending the rules or deciding to do things which you think is right ask the DM first! Many DM's have game plans and ways to play the dungeon out and being a DM is no easy task.
3. Be a Team Player
Your not playing this on your own, your with a group of adventurers and without them you will not succeed. Talk with your team to get out of certain situations or plan the next room ahead.
4. Think outside the box
Yes the game is on a board, yes is uses dice but it dont mean you dont have to think and treat it like a normal board game. Think as i call it breaking the 4th wall like your actually inside that room. You can search the rooms not everything with be on the board for you to see, somethings can only be seen if you are clever about! Just ask the DM and if he wants too he will tell you!
5. ROLEPLAY a little!
This is D&D, it does have a bad reputation for nerds acting all silly but thats what its all about and if you start roleplaying everyone else enjoys it too and its why D&D is great fun with friends. We dont want people coming on D&D just to be competive and Win we want to enjoy people to yourself's and be your alter ego's, your character!
6. Help out people
If your new to the game or a D&D veteran it nice to help out people who find the more complicated stuff hard. But if it taking to long let the DM decide what to do (Even I get confused sometimes!)
And that's all the basic stuff down, of course D&D is a very deep game and there is alot more too it but these are our little rules to make your exprience the best with D&D!
Any questions or idea's give me or sulky a message!
