Hi Folks,
It seems to be a bit of a trend over the last couple of LANs that some folks are coming up on the Thursday to unwind and catchup before settling into the LAN festivities.
While the use of the LAN room is at the discretion of the hotel, it doesn't stop us from getting together and hitting the street of March and grabbing some food or just kick around the hotel for some beers.
I'll be around and about for sure but it would be good to get a list going so we could let the hotel know. We can always sort out the fine details later.

- FatBob
I will be there.
Hopefully my crew too.
by about 7pm ish
Is this after you have gone shopping again 7? or the real 7 :) :) :)
See you on the Thursday, Karrde will be with me as well.
Yer sounds like a good idea and will be up for stuff like that. Providing the place serves beer I am quite happy. Is there much to do in March? as have never been there.
I'll be there, and Jon; March is like Petersfield but with a kebab shop.

Aye, you wait for April ;)
Jokes aside, there's a kebab place (which is good according to Tea), a "super" market, a night club or two and some shops - there's a computing shop a couple of meters from the hotel for those wire emergencies (left whilst your back is facing Cromwell). That's all I know; others should have more info.

Depends who are with you, must say, sometimes there's nothing to do but everytime I've been there with the lads it was good fun.
Ninja Jon = Gortex

That tells me
1, old very English town,
2, With a very dodgy night club with attendees just out of bed wetting (Whitey still does this so I hear) :narnar:
3, Kebab shop, that sells kebabs which should only be eaten when drunk and so anything tastes good.
4, Very good restaurants with many stars ***** but costing more money than my computer.
5, And several pubs some of which will be just what we need and serve good beer. :D
Its in the middle of the fens so should be fairly cheap with lots of "boy racers" in their modified novas.
All joking aside I have passed through a couple of times and it seems like a nice little sleepy town.
I got the thumbs up from work now so I can come =).
Count me in for the Thursday celebrations...
March. Hmmm, where to begin...
Yes, there's a kebab shop. Several of them actually, and they do pretty good pizzas.
Don't go to the night club, especially if FatBob invites you.
There are reasonable chinese & indian restaurants, but they're nothing special.
The pubs are ok, but frankly the bar at the hotel is better (real ales, reasonable prices, friendly staff and it's open 'till we fall alseep - what's not to like?).
There's also a ploughing museum for if you get really bored...
I'll probably pop down for a swift half with ya Ninj....(i feel another Thursday night / Friday morning club moment coming on...i'll try not to break Smilodon this time i promise !)

The hotel has a Leisure Club attached (swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym) which is free so remember to bring some swimmers if you're into that sort of thing...
As others have said, there's a nightclub - Having seen the things that go in there I haven't been but I'm sure you'll have a chavtastic time if it's your thing :)
Not all the girls are quite that hairy.. and that's just the barnyard type...

I endorse this message.
and the ploughing referred to is not the sort that Pen wants to do to Amy:narnar:

A pic of the happy smiling staff of the Cromwell and an ugly old git who answers to "D'you want a drink Skoda?" :D and just a reminder for Oldie to pack his spoon.
Bit to close for me to attend unfortunately but, this isn't the Oliver Cromwell Hotel is it? Tutonic did 12k not have a lan here many moons ago?

Yup, many moons ago.
thought I was having deja vu again..
In that case for anyone that has not been before: Although ive not been to a dMw LAN I have been to one at that hotel. Rooms are great really nice, I can also vouch for the nightclub across from the hotel being one not to bother with and the bar did serve us until people started appearing for breakfast:)
Great venue.

One of them old CounterStrike clans we played with used to have LANs there also, forgot their name atm but it might get back to me.

We used the OC for a LAN when I was playing Counter-Strike for [12K].
No idea if they're still going, or even if they still exist.
