Title: The Dangers of Trash Runs
Post by: TeaLeaf on February 24, 2011, 02:52:47 PM
I don't know why I did it tbh, usually I steer well clear of any such runs unless they are guild runs, as the hassle usually exceeds the benefits, but as I had some time I thought I would join one and see if I could pick up the single item in Bastion of Twilight that would benefit me:
[item=59525]Chelley's Staff of Dark Mending[/item]

It's not quite as good as the one from archeology, but then I have never seen the one from archeology, so a small chance in BoT is better than none.

After 2 hours, it dropped.  Great I thought, at least I have a chance of a roll on it.

I rolled 80.
A resto druid rolled 70

I won!  I was so wrong.

Unfortunately, the resto druid was the raid leader and also master-looter and took it.

Bernix, the resto druid, declared it to be a healer only item despite the fact that it is listed on shadowpriest.com as one of our BIS 2H weapons (the heroic version is actually *the* BIS).  Firstly he tried to say that it was 'clearly & always a healer weapon'; then he moved to 'it is a spirit weapon so not for dps'; when someone pointed out to him that shadow priests use spirit too he switched to the fact that 'spirit was a resto druid's #1 stat and if I would reforge the spirit to haste then my roll was for offspec'.

Can you see the blood boil? I was so angry at myself for putting myself in that situation and going on a trash loot run.

The morale of the story is, never go into a trash loot run without being 100% clear on the ability to roll & distribute loot.

And never go into a run with BERNIX the resto druid.  My faith in humanity has been restored.....to its previously lower level.   :getmecoat:

Quoting Alexandre Dumas from "The Count of Monte Cristo":
Quote-The world is then crowded with tigers and crocodiles?
-Yes, with this very difference, that two footed tigers and crocodiles are more dangerous than the others.

Tbh the members of the aztéch guild alredy had a very dark reputation to my eyes, and now they just gained their names written on my black book.
I'm sorry for what you had to endure, tl. I really hope you'll be able to get it as soon as possible on our runs, since it should be about time for it to drop, after all this time.

I agree with him its a druid staff (not that im bias in any way) :P

Seriously after looking at it yes Its BIS for me tho I need to reforge the mastery that's a dead stat ... and as for a dps if you have a talent to utilise the spirit then I think it also becomes BIS for shammy , lock, shadow priest. I can imagine the cat got a good kicking when ya logged off
