Generally, if you get this error then log out of steam ,restart it, log in and then all should be well.

To reduce errors make sure u close steam and not close it down with the computer because it takes time to shut down otherwise its not happy.

Hmm this as turned up b4

'error server verification failed' usually followed by the number of the server.
The culprit b4 was server 27 i believe which was situated in Korea.

The solution I found was to LOGOUT  of steam NOT SWITCH OFF.
Then close down steam and restart it again.
Hopefully when u LOG ON again it will take you to a different verification server.

It may help if you delete the BLOB file b4 restarting steam too and let it update again.

looks like i just happened to be online at the wrong time this was posted on the steam website about the time i was trying to get on

"We have identified a bug in the recent update which was causing Steam users to download much more content than was necessary. This was overloading the network and not allowing people to play games, so we have reverted back to the previous version for now. There will probably be some network congestion due to all this for the next couple of hours or so."

Everything fine now! cheers for replies   :)
