I liked Section 8 ( a 2009 futuristic Battlefield-like game) but very few people bought the game, so the servers were rather empty.
However, the good news is that Timegate are releasing a refined sequel for only $15 (£10) on Steam, Direct Download & Impulse. The game supports dedicated servers and they are creating it with game-clans in mind.
Watch the video, give me your thoughts.
As if by magic, a preview appeared.

It's worth mentioning that this is only going to cost £10 on launch, which in my eyes makes it worth a punt....
Rock, Paper, Shotgun (http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/04/06/section-8-prejudice-lands-on-april-20th) reports a May 5th release for this budget sci-fi team-based shooter.
Reminds me of unreal tournament and Halo.
The cheapness of the game is certainly appealing but is there enough tactical gameplay for us?
Intially we though bc2 was too run and gun.
Specific answers I am after are:
*is it LAN supported?
*are the server files going to be available or will we need to rent a server?
Well Eurogamer likes it alot. Linky (http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-04-20-section-8-prejudice-review)
QuotePLAYERS PLAYING ON A DEDICATED SERVER WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY WITH AT LEAST 32 PLAYERS WHILE PLAYERS ON A LISTEN SERVER WILL BE ABLE TO PLAY WITH 16.

Lets see if my flakey connection can handle it!
Well that's another fine game you've got me into!
Prejudice is released tonight, who's for a game?
I'd be game depending on download time on my connection
Will be downloading it but might not get round to playing tonight.
Available now, but the steam servers are 'Too busy'.
Changed my download location to a few locations but still got 'Too busy'.
Eventually switched to "US - Charlotte" and got a connection through, currently at 550-600KB/s.
i could be persuaded.......it isnt an add-on is it?

That location worked for me too, I'm currently getting ~900Kb/sec.

It's a full, standalone game.
US - Charlotte is working for me too. Tho at only 90kbs :(
The wretched system known as Games For Windows Live is having problems, plenty of people are having trouble launching the game.
The angry internet men have been unleashed.
I got an GFWL disconnected error whilst playing the game, but I was already in and working at the time, looks okay again now though.
There is already downloadable content for the game, but looks like it's a specialised weapons pack.
trying to download.. :(
around 1mb from TO Canada!! :P
Downloaded at 2MB/s from BOSTON US and installed but need to go to bed soon. Looks like the the UK has been shafted once again =(.
Installed but like DZ bed time, maybe get some time on it tomorrow after the testing :)
Okay peeps.
I was out of commission yesterday re-assembling a DS Lite (scary stuff).
However, downloads complete, I have "Section 8: Predjudice" all Steamed up and ready to go. My Steam ID is (yup you guessed it) "Arithon" so add my to your friends list and let the battle commence tonight!
7pm > I'll be on...
Lets see if this is an okay game or a dMw-worthy title!
*I've added you guys who've said you have it to my Steam friends list*

If anyone's having the same issue as me ('Games for Windows Live could not initialize, then quit to desktop), apparently there are issues with S8 and Comodo anti-virus (which I'm running).
I'll uninstall Comodo when I get home and see if this fixes the issue.
Mine worked OK, downloaded from Montreal at reasonable speeds.
First impressions of the single-player game are good. Reminds me a lot of Tribes 2. I have high hopes for this game as it is not too complicated and if the multi-player modes are good it could be a winner.
But the proof will be in the playing. Testage tonight, my Windows Live ID is Sn00kyW00ky, I think.
Cant find your name,it said "Wrong or dont excist gamer tag" Arithon that is...
Allthough i found SnOOkyWOOKY.......
Here's a workaround for anyone else having Comodo Anti-Virus issues with this game:
Open Comodo settings
Goto Defense+ Tab
Open Defense+ Settings
Goto "Execution Control Settings" Tab
Click on "Exclusions" for shellcode injections (Buffer overflow)
Add S9.exe
Add S9-Win32-F.exe from the Binaries directory
Click "Apply"
GFWL GamerTag = "Arithon UK" (with a space)
Great game - really enjoyed playing tonight, I think this one might stick around.
It fun but I dont think it is one for us, it is too run and gun and out for yourself. Fun though if you get a few ppl on the same server
My initial thoughts are the same as Toby. It's like Halo on steroids. It has some interesting aspects to it but I defo wouldn't pay for a server..
Played a bit of MP, cant remember what mode, this morning.
It is a nice shooter, with the drop jump being a great way to enter a battle and the customization for each weapon is quite good.
But sadly i personally dont think the game will be picked up by ours gamers that much.
Atleast thats my opinion from the early game play, will play it over the weekend and see if things go diffrent.
