Title: LAN equipment
Post by: DrunkenZombiee on March 27, 2011, 02:45:45 PM
What do I need to bring in terms of power adaptors (4 way plug etc) and networking equipment (do I need to bring my own cat6? if so how long?).

To warn you I am one of these people who likes to plan, check and double check rather than just chuck everything in a bag last minute. Annoying isn't it!

Would also be useful to have a post from an experienced LAN attendee on what they take for dMw LAN virgins.

I will be taking the following but no clue if I am on the right track:

Monitor + kettle lead and DVI lead
PC + kettle lead
Either my UPS or a 4 way with as much lead length as possible (not sure if the power is floor ports or around the end of the room and what length might be needed)
Headphones
Keyboard
Mouse
Assortment of USB leads for camera, phone etc.
Ethernet cabling (2 or more cables, as long as possible, will see what I have)
Clothes, (shoes + shirts in case we want to go to a club, casual stuff for LAN and GYM gear)
Football, frisbee and rugby ball (for the lolz).
SLR and pocket camera + chargers, leads and lenses.
Energy shots to stay awake
Money
Possibly PS3 or 360... Undecided as yet.
Hard drives full of goodies and for goodies.

Is there anything I have forgotten? Or anything needed in particular?

Thank for your help in advance.

DZ.

Shows the gentleman above to the information he seeks Packing List (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?32609-LAN-XIX-Packing-List-amp-Instructions-Thread)

Up to you on the consoles but there will be lots of things to do.

There might be a problem with updates on steam as I will be there on Thursday already and set up! DOH!

I need to patch BF2 and COD4 as just installed them. Tape is an awesome idea... Will see what I can find.

Nps. There is an internet connection there albeit limited.

The packing list is just the same as we trot out before each LAN and update it when we need to so the Thurs night comment was more when we were strictly Fri-Sun.

The truth??

At least I can leave the suit bag at home. =)
I feel like its surgically attached to me at the moment.

Gym stuff is a must as I only have 2 months to train for a 100 mile bike race so an hour a day will be on the exercise bike, even if I am hung over.

Some laps of the pool might do me some good too..

You're going to use the hotel gym? This might be a first for the Deadmen. Let us know what it's like.
