I'm trying to find a mobo power lead for a PCI-E usb card I have.
It says I need to connect it to the power supply using a 4pin-connector. However it's flat.
I attach a couple of pics.
I do that sort of connector but it won't reach so does anyone know what this thing is called so I can get an extension or an adapter?
I can't find one on Maplin or ebay but I'm not sure I'm using the right terminology.
Thanks
I might be wrong, but that looks suspiciously like a floppy-drive power connector.
You can get cables which convert a standard molex plug, like this one (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Akasa-4-pin-Molex-to-Floppy-Drive-Adaptor-Cable_W0QQitemZ290334613272QQcmdZViewItem?rvr_id=221404458839&rvr_id=221404458839&cguid=e7c79e3c1230a0aad3818ea1fdba2240).
It does indeed look like a floppy connector. Unfortunately I don't have any here or I'd post one to you!
Your powersupply should have one on. For some reason they still insist on putting them on even modern ones. (and I guess that is why this card still uses them). Why they haven't switched to standard molex, or 4/6 pin graphics card type plugs I'll never know.
(look for a cable that is wound up and tucked out the way part way down another cable)
Thanks guys - that's the baby.
T-B, yes I do have one but as mentioned it it's not long enough as it was designed to reach the drive bays not the mobo.
Thanks.
Pen.. I may have something for you.. If you need it for the lan I suggest you go buy one. If you need it post-lan then I can bring some with me.
Let me know.
Thanks Dan. Post Lan is fine so if you have something suitable knocking around then that'll be great :)
I'm a dirty filthy lying whore.. Sorry.. could sworn I had a couple kicking around.. :(
Nps. They're only a few quid :)
