Title: Asus EEE Pad Transformer

This ties in with TeaLeafs Xoom post, but I thought it justifies it's own thread.

It's a 10.1" Tablet with 9.5 Hour battery life. Android 3.0, flash support. Dual Tegra 2 etc etc. All the impressive stuff you'd want from a tablet. But on top of that for £50 you can buy a keyboard dock that turns it into a laptop and bumps the battery life up to 16 hours.

The thing I've disliked about tablets is that for serious work typing is a real pain. Having to hold the thing at the right angle effectively ties up one hand (which is fine on a sofa, just rest it on your lap and adjust your seating position accordingly, but when you sit at a table you have to either hold it, prop it up, or lean right over the thing to use it optimally).

A detachable tablet makes a lot of sense. For 90% of the time you leave the keyboard, just use the thing as a tablet, web browsing, video watching are all great hand held, but if you need extra battery life, or the ability to type more easily just plug it in and you've got a whole new device.

Best part is, the prices are more sensible £429 with the dock for a 16GB (£379 without).

Hiya T-Bag, I tried this in Currys last weekend and it was pretty nice. Performed well and was stable. Not tried the keyboard as they never had that in stock. Shame it lacks 3G support, that's my only con.

That's a potential downside I suppose. But because it's Android I imagine it's easy enough to tether to your phone. Whatever tablet I get I wouldn't like to have to pay for another contract just to browse when I've already got 3GB that I don't come anywhere near using.
