Title: Forum Upgrade
Post by: Whitey on April 12, 2011, 01:15:29 PM
The forum has been upgraded to the latest version in order to plug a security issue.
Please let me know if you find any issues that were not present prior to the upgrade.

Does anyone else think it's slower?

Yes, I had to ping the server to get pages to arrive.

Performance is down for me. Hitting the 'What's New' button is particularly painful.

It's been slow for me since we moved to a Windows Server, about 10 seconds to lead the home page and another five to get through the 'What's New' link. The recent patch hasn't really improved or degraded speed noticeably.

30 seconds to load the new posts page :(
Much slower than normal.
I did notice a slow down loading home page a little while ago (maybe when we mover to windows?)
but normal forum pages weren't affected, now it's all pages slow

New posts takes upwards of a minute to load now. Before it was 30 seconds or so, not really affected me as I swap to another tab and come back when the whirly, spinny thing stops!

Is there any word on when this will be fixed? It doesn't seem to have improved at all. It's pretty annoying that I can browse 3-4 different websites and forums in the time it takes to get the "Whats New" section.

We're testing things at the moment.  We have a potential solution and have a test solution running under a VM.  We'll post when we have some idea of a timescale, there are other things that need changing to allow the solution to be implemented and we need to sort those first..

I'm with BT and see the same long delays on the "What's New?" and "Home" buttons but the rest of the forum seems fine.

I'm on a stanjdard 20mb Virgin connection at home and an absurdly fast uni connection when I'm at work. It's exactly the same for me for both, the main forum page (my bookmark) and the what's new are slow, going to a specified page is fine.

So Ghost I guess it's some database type thing which keeps track of what you've looked at before being slow, not the hosting or my connection to the site itself.
