Title: Gamers attitude

So i have been playing League Of Legends a whole lot but i guess this is "global" over all games and titles.

i would know if this is something that u guys are noticing.

Player A is doing just fine or good.

Player B is doing horrible, making mistakes and from your perspective isen´t focusing on the game.

so you decide to tell Player B to step it up because you figure he can do better, and you tell him that all he needs to do is play a little safer. Don´t run into enemy lines and stuff like that.

what is the usual response i get?

 8 times out of 10 it´s this:

"Shut up, n00b. U can´t play this game"

and usually there is some swearing in there to.

sorry if this is a confusing post, i´m just so irritated on those people.

If someone tells me that i´m not doing any good, i usually say " sorry i know i´m doing bad" or "i´ll try harder".

don´t understand why you need to "harass" someone in game.....

This is usually the point where someone points out that a large proportion of gamers are children and therefore lacking social skills. That's a little unfair on kids and I know many adults with no ability to take a suggestion or criticism either. The truth is that I have no idea why people become so belligerent when they get on line. Whether it's multi player games, forums or blog comment posts there seems to be a huge number of people who are verbally aggressive and often just plain rude. Especially when you try to suggest they might be wrong about something or not performing as well as they might.

I'm not sure but I think it might be down to there being no consequences to our actions when we're on-line. Much like when we're behind the wheel of a car we feel protected when we're not face to face with other people and seem quite happy to become rude and intolerant.

It's sad but true that the only place to get decent on-line interactions is in communities like the dMw. Clever academic types will probably explain that it's human nature to group together into small clan/village units and that we've been doing it for thousands of years. When large groups come together we get wars and oppression and such like. Maybe we're just duplicating that on-line..... or something.

I think this theorum (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2004/03/19/) explains the situation quite perfectly.

Yeah thats about right.

wonder if game developers or those responsible for the community of a game can do something about it!?....
Title: Why do you think I joined dMw?

Because before I joined up with dMw and was able to have a cognisant (if sometimes rambling and drunken) conversation, I couldn't enjoy playing.

You can't have a battle of wits when your  opponents are witless (and have a potty mouth)!

Which leads us back to:-
