a question not a problem .......
how can i find if people should be on the server...is there a list showing all the people with the pword...i only ask this as i see lots of new people at the moment (i was bad myself for joining and not being listed)but as soon as i changed my name to dmw people dropped
do not all people love me ......?
The list is held by DM and is the original MH PCS Mailing List Membership. Those are the people who have registered as you did for MH PCS. Doggers has mentioned that the MH PCS list is substantially bigger than the Forum membership list.
Now I don't know how Homer has been set up (perhaps DM or Stryker could comment), but if Homer doesn't check the WONID in addition to the password when people join (a la the N42 WONID check) then I guess it would be sensible for the server admins to have access to a list so that checks can be made if needed.
General comment though, we have seen a lot of new MH PCS members recently and it has been great having them involved. Always good to see new blood on the server walls ;-). They seem to be enjoying the PCS experience and sticking with it (Thank you peeps!). I have been on the server many times recently where I am the only -=[dMw]=- member playing and had a really good game - and there haven't been swarms of people leaving when I arrived with a -=[dMw]=- Tag. So if I can't put them off, then I figure that you must have just been unlucky - it was pure coincidence that you changed your name and they left.

People don't always register with their game handle, so all I have is a list of names & email addys and no accurate way of tying them to the players. I'm sure there are a few players who got the p/w off a mate/some site or other, but so long as they play and adapt to the PCS style, it's not really a problem.
If it does become a problem, I can change the password and mail all the registered members with the new one in about ten minutes.
I think we should pass a resolution that all new and old PCS members hand in their WONIDs....
grep the logs.
But as Doggers has said ... It's not a problem.
The registration serves it's purpose in keeping the casual deathmatcher off the server. Once on and playing then, registered or not, you abide by the rules.
oldie complained the other day that me name (I see dead people) was too long and his dentures flew out when he tried to say it on comms....so i changed to me old moniker "Blunt"....
server's gettin busier tho still not late enuff 4 me!!
Funny I was thinking the same thing..
It's your server and I'm just a member but I would be completely opposed to NE1 giving out the server password. <-period...
I can't stop them, but they'll lose out when the password gets changed. The effort involved in registering is minimal, so why not do it anyway?

perhaps look at using something like this?

its an adminmod plugin that limits access to only those WONIDs that are held in a mysql db, add a new field to the forums db and then do a bit of editing here and there and you should be able to have a persons wonid held in the forums, making access simpler than passwords i would imagine.
