Now this is looking seriously nice. Samsung appear to be on a rich vein of product at the moment. No confirmed launch date yet, but Vodaphone did whisper May 18th by accident.

Any idea on the price?
Me likely likely
I suspect it won't be cheap. I'm also not that impressed with Samsung's way of adding their own bits and bobs to the OS. My friend has a Galaxy smartphone and apart from looking to iPhoney (as discussed elsewhere) it seems to be a bit too full of Samsung bloat. However I imagine it won't be that hard to root and install a stock Honeycomb.
I'm still trying to work out why I'd want one over my Samsung Netbook. Point taken of course about TL's need for a work tool rather than another laptop.
The rumours I have heard are that it will be cheaper than the iPad2. If it is, then my wallet might take a very quick hammering.
I don't like the samsung software on the galaxy s, but I'm sure it's fairly easy to fix. The thing that puts me off more if that the Samsung tabs are significantly more expensive than the ipad which now sells for around £330 since the launch of the ipad 2 without offering anything much for the price. I don't expect the 10" version to be cheaper than the 7" currently is, so I think it's too expensive.
Still vaguely tempted by the Eee Transformer, but even that seems a bit expensive vs the ipad.
Yes but the Tab 10.1 is coming out with a vanilla Android, no Samsung stuff on it at all. Apparently Google is pushing suppliers to provide the tablet in vanilla and this is why several of the newer ones are coming with a plain vanilla Honeycomb flavour.
Re the price, agreed. however the latest info is that it will be cheaper than the iPad2. Apparently Samsung are taking the fight to Apple and will price to beat them, so I suspect the market price of several tablets will drop as a result (including that of the old/current Tab). At least, that's what I am reading on the various websites that have gathered some info on this tablet and it's smaller 8.9" variant.

I'm reading conflicting reports about what is added. I am finding some sites saying they are now pushing to a standard Honeycomb, others saying Honeycomb has the TouchWiz 4.0 UX UI overlaid on it. Part of the confusion I think comes from the 2 version of the 10.1, the original 10.1 (10.9mm thick, 3-megapixel forward-facing camera and now called the 10.1v - allegedly being sold via Vodaphone exclusively) and the new & improved 10.1 (8.9mm thick and with an 8-megapixel forward-facing camera).
The majority of the sites, after checking carefully *which* 10.1 they were reviewing, had:
10.1v - running a vanilla Honeycomb
10.1 - running Honeycomb with Samsung's TouchWiz 4.0 UX overlay.
The iPad2 launch caused the redesign and the lowering of the price, allegedly. Good news for consumers I guess.
I thought you mentioned it had SDHC? Unless I'm missing it I don't think it has?

Memory
16G / 32G / 64G, microSD (up to 32GB)
So that's base plus the card.
I went down a street with houses numbered like that: 16 \ 32 \ 64 \ 128 \ 256 \ 512, it was a walk down memory lane........:getmecoat:
You the man Lion :)

I'm looking forward to the cloud music service to be international....why do companies always forget about the rest of the world when launching cool things like this.
There's some really impressive stuff in there to look forward to. I might hold off getting a tablet now for 6 months though. I think then the software will have the features a little more solid and the hardware should have come down a little in price. It's so hard to know when the timing is right.
June 8th is the US launch, still not seen any confirmed UK launch dates. Plenty of pre-order sites about, but it is seriously unclear which 10.1 they are letting you pre-order mainly due to the lack of spec details on the websites (e.g. Expansys).
As the Toshiba is delayed now until much later this year, it looks like the revised 10.1 will get my dollars.
Samsung User Manual for the old 10.1 (now renamed 10.1v)

Looking for the new 10.1 manual so we can do direct comparisons, not found it yet.
Engadget likes it (http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/17/samsung-galaxy-tab-10-1-limited-edition-review/) ...
QuoteWithout qualification, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is the best Honeycomb tablet to date, and this time, it's by a country mile. There's simply not another Android 3.0 tablet on the market today that matches the Tab 10.1's style, placing it a lap ahead of the other, more cumbersome Tegra 2-powered alternatives.
Model number for the new slimmed down version of the 10.1 is apparently GT-P7510, but no manual yet. The old version (now 10.1v) is the GT-P7100.
Poorly translated/written comparison of the new 10.1 and the older 10.1v, but it is understandable.

Apparently the 10.1 will now ship with Android 3.1

If I had the cash and didn't already have a perfectly decent little net book, this would be my tablet of choice without a doubt.
According to the Reg Hardware early August UK release date Reg Hardware Article (http://www.reghardware.com/2011/06/24/samsung_galaxy_tab_10_date/)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/jul/25/why-samsung-galaxy-tab-is-meh
Given a bit of a thrashing in today's Guardian. Mainly for the prorietry data/ charging connector and lack of SD slot in the wifi version.
Yep, the Toshiba Thrive although much bulkier is getting praise for exactly the opposite reason.
Has the Toshiba got 3G yet?

Not too worried by 3G, I have my phone and it tethers stuff.
My experience of Teathering has been disappointing in terms of reliability. That's why I went for a 3G model.
I've used iPhone, HTC Phone, mywi and that additional connection to a gateway device plus the batter consumption are a real bug bear for me.
Of course you are likely to get more software updates for a wifi model of any device because of the less complex 3G coding required per country.

The wifi version of the Samsung 10.1 was realeased yesterday the 16gb version is £399 at and I hate to say it currys and pchell :)
The 3g version is coming laters.
The screen on this tablet is awesome and streets ahead of the Xoom. But when you can get a 32GB Xoom for the same price as a 16GB Samsung and the Samsung has not have the SD slot, well I think the Xoom wins. Versus the Thrive, still to be decided.
Saw the Samsung (still my favorite Android Tablet) side by side with an iPad 2 yesterday  Sadly I think the Android tablets still have a fair way to go to match the Apple product for polish and usability. While functionally Android might be equal or ahead of Apple in its ability to get work done the UI is far behind. Android on the phone doesn't try to match iOS for eye candy, it lets third party apps like Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher or GO Launcher do that. Maybe it will require one or more of these companies to produce a launcher for tablets. But at the moment when seen side by side I cannot see how any non techy consumer would pick a Galaxy Tab or Xoom over an iPad. We're geeks and so we look under the gloss of the UI but the great unwashed probably don't. Right now Android will sell cheap tablets to people who cannot stump up for an iPad, to the enterprise market looking to deploy large numbers of tablets which their IT departments can configure and control or to us geeky types.
I don't know how Apple do it but I still walk out of any gadget shop I've been window shopping through secretly wanting a Macbook, iPhone and iPad. I know I won't like any of them and they won't work for me like my PC, HTC Desire and netbook do but I still want them. Steve Jobs is a witch and should be burnt or something :)

Sort of supports my suggestion that the Samsung is the better device in almost all respects but the Apple is the one that's going to impress if you only have a few minutes to play with one in the shops. The Samsung IS a better device but I'm sure it won't sell anywhere near as many units (especially when Apple panic and screw around with patent law rather than innovation.)
Samsung are definitely competing head on with the iPad with this device. But I don't think I like that approach. I don't want the thinnest tablet at the expense of expandable memory, straight forward USB and HDMI connection. Still not sold on getting a tablet yet...I thought I'd be so easily swayed, but they've all just come out too expensive and lacking features of one sort or another. I'm going to have a road trip with an Eee Transformer in a weeks time so we'll see if that changes my mind. Failing that January sales might sway me, with all the new models presumably coming out might be a good time to pick up a bargain.
The new Sony Tab and White and Silver Android phone look nice!
