Can we test these team?
would it be a good idea to delete all the missions of one server and put these on, that way we can test the new missions find the ones we want to keep and delete the rest then do the reverse with the other server with the missions on that already. We do need a little tidy up. Might be a good time to do it
Nice find Logik I think we can have a look but not sure I want to upload the lot as a few of them are for only 6 ppl.
The servers like to be in unison and it make uploading and making changes much easier for those that can and know how. As for clearing out I will have a think on it :)
It doesn't look like they have revive and I'm damned if I'm going through 40 missions and adding it. Can I suggest that people try them out, the ones you like, I'll edit, maybe.
I thought it would be cool to have some more private missions that players who prefer some close quarters battle [cqb] could enjoy, with objectives like hostage rescue/bomb defuse and teamwork elements, these missions could be used for less public nights shall we say.
As for adding revive why bother if the squad can work together as a team and the server is pass worded do we really need it, the missions of this type would be small lite and fun for lower player turn outs and good team work training not a large squad sand box/giant map /public turnout.
I like the idea of new stuff, but I'd not like to loose Revive. It's definitely a favorite.

I agree it's nice to have new missions, but.....
hostage rescue is a pita, everytime we've tried it on homegrown and loaded missions, it's been a ball ache. The triggers invariable fail and the whole thing turns shambolic. As for cqb and other bits and pieces I'm all for it. On revive, we can add it in if we find the right missions. We can't go without as exit and respawn is either crap, or the missions usually prevent it.
And I for one am not joining up at 8, taking a lucky bullet at 5 past and waiting 2 hours for everyone to finish. I don't mind adding in the revive scripts, but cherry pick the good missions first.
:)
Agreed it will better to check some out before asking to make changes. I will have a think this weekend and get some stuff sorted for Sundays public foray. Thanks for your in put lads
NOthing to see here move along
Rightiho I have asked that 23 missions from the pack be uploaded, a couple of 6 the rest are 9 + I would like to hear your feedback on these, as in good, bad, delete, look in to modding etc. I will leave them up for a while and if we get no feedback we will delete them and stick the others up.
Née worries mate, do we have an admin about tonight?
No admins, which frankly is a disgrace and totally unacceptable. Sack them all I say. Sack them all and roll them in tar and feathers. Then show the bounders a pair of fisty-cuffs and show them what for!
As to the games we tried I don't remember then names of course, which isn't going to be very hepful. First mission didn't allow enough slots and so we couldn't all get on. Should we limit maps to those with 12+ slots?
Second map didn't allow any re-spawns or revives. So should we reject any where we can't get players back into the game?
Hopefully Sulky will know what the maps were and we can decide on whether to keep them.
as soon as ive reinstalled my arma ill let you know which ones we tried, hopefully tomorrow it will be downloaded and installed ( doing it now). Tried to run the games using the ingame vote for admin thing but we didnt get very far due to my sig time out error that i get.... looking at this now stand by for a new thread on that one
Well I am sorry there was not admin playing but as benny stated he was on steam for awhile.
As for the maps they were requested so we put them up so that we could try them and if any of them we liked then we could see if we could mod them to our liking.
I feel it would be completely unfair to ask those few who can make changes to edit 23 missions on ones we might not even keep. That's why they were put up and are not how we like them.
I'm not sure what a mission file looks like to an admin and how much information can be checked just from the content of that file/s but clearly limited player slots and perma-death probably won't float. If we can see up front which they are IMHO we should drop them now. If not then I for one will make a point of writing down their names in future.
Editing in revive isn't too painful, I (or Lib) just need to remember how to do it. For reference it will take me 5 iterations as I invariably increase the skill of the enemy and try to make things blow up. Lib will take one iteration and it will come with a full manual, video highlights and multiple endings.
The exception is insurgency which is a pita. It's a lot easier to group people than it is to add slots. Give me the mission names you want chopped and I'll try a bit later.
Most of the Arma 2 community play differently from us, a lot of them are real hardcore, you get shot and your bagged and tagged for the rest of the mission. If you check out the post about comms that benny put up they play like it.
So one of the ways we find maps is get suggestions from community try them out and if we like one to edit it.
So how we doing with these, tried any liked, all pants?
I don't think anyone has been on-line since Tuesday to check them out. I think we'd need to do them justice with a group before we adopt or consign them to the bin.
As mentioned what was noticed was that some of the maps immediately fell down due to either having no facility to resurrect or respawn. Once dead you're out for good, which doesn't really fit with our play style. Also some maps have limited slots. I did notice that while the map allowed six slots for example, we couldn't fill the final slot. It seemed locked and we could only play with five people. I assume these maps are balanced for the number of slots available, so again I don't think they will float for our servers.
of course I didn't make a note of the names of the maps. If it's possible to see how many slots are available and what sort of respawn/resurrect is activated from the actual files it might be worth dumping 'no revive' and limited slots maps.
update: the no respawn map we didn't like was Escape.nur tasakstan. the problem is obviously that once your shot you're out of the game for the duration. How long that is I'm not sure but it's Arma not Counterstrike. So I don't think it fits with our play style at all. It's also only a six slot map so not much use for us on Tuesdays and Sundays either.
If you like the premise and it's set up well I can add revive. Just let me know which maps.
Escape.nur tasakstan is unplayable in it's current form i.e. perma -death which no one wants to play. If you stick revive on it we can at least test it out and see if it's any good?
gave toby a list of the other missions we tried the other night, defo worth a respawn as they seemed like good missions...till we all got killed

Hang on....Escape Nur? There's already a respawn version on there. It's crap, but entertaining.
I'll check the exact name but the one I'm talking about has respawn set to 'none'.
