As neither title popped up in my search on the forums, I decided to start it myself:
I've just been to the movie Unkown (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1401152/) with Marduk. It was such a fantastic movie with such a thrilling story line, that I knew it was almost impossible to create a movie script out of the blue, it had to be based upon a book. Starting of at IMdB I couldn't find anything about a book, and some searches containing the main charactar names, only provided movie refferences, untill I came across a mentioning of the book: Out Of My Head
by Didier van Cauwelaert (http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/768907.Out_Of_My_Head)
As the movie was so good I just had to order the book (in Hardcover even, without the movie cover).
Basically its a story about a guy (Martin Harris) who after a short absence (His cab crashed, and was hospitalised/in coma for a couple days) found out that his wife doesn't know him at all. And that another man is with her in their hotel room under his name. The security thinks he is a raving lunatic. Worse, not a single person he can think of can vouch for him. Worse still, the impostor shares all of Martin's memories, experiences, and knowledge, down to the last detail. He is, in fact, a more convincing Martin than Martin himself (this also because he had just lost his briefcase at the airport with his passport in it, reason why he stepped into the cap that crashed).
Is it a conspiracy? Amnesia? Is Martin the victim of an elaborate hoax, or of his own paranoid delusion?
I can tell you more, and you can probably find a lot more on the internet, but I won't, as anything more can and will spoil your reading or watching pleasure.
Well perhaps the fact that this is one of the very few hollywood movies that happen in Europe I've seen so far, where every side actor or background noises are actually speaking the correct (in this case German) language. Wich in my opionion adds more value to the watching experience.
All in all a very thrilling movie, fast paced, not to much unneeded action, some things are not 100% believable, but wow, just, great plot, good camera work and details (really makes you believe your in Berlin), nice special effects and excellent actors. Really worth your time, and I'll let you guys know more as soon as I've received and finished the book. Until then you'll have to figure out for yourself if you want to read the book (which from the back cover, seems to be a bit different to the actual movie) or watch the movie first (It really is a great movie to watch in the theaters).
I haven't read the book yet, but as far as I am concerned this movie makes the bourne identity (which I own both in book and dvd but still need to read it, but watched many times) seem like a hasty untidy movie.
Edit:
As T-Bag is handing out stars, I cannot stay behind, 4.5 / 5 from me, only seen 1 better movie this year.
Went to see it in the cinema when it first came out, and full marks to liam neesom for his performance he is one guy you DONT wanna mess with - i really enjoyed this fresh new look action film with a decent storyline , even if it was adapated from a book - most of the stuff u see in cinemas these days are remakes
I saw it in the Cinema too. I think the film was ruined for me a little as I watched the trailer first (Link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSXUgkCjdBM). It makes it incredibly obvious what was going to happen. So nothing came as a shock to me while watching it. Having said that even without the trailer there are only 2 workable potential scenarios at play that tie up the events of the first 20-30mins of the film so it's not the end of the world having seen it, in fact it was probably more entertaining for me seeing it unfold after having bet my friends on the outcome.
Overall I give it 2.5/5 Stars. It's a decent action film, with enough of a plot to keep it ticking over. It's well acted with above reasonable special effects. If you're killing time a want a film with a bit of action, a storyline that is reasonably entertaining and actors you'll recognise then this is for you.
