Title: Sulky arma 2 woes
Post by: sulky_uk on May 30, 2011, 10:51:52 AM
So after a night of not getting kicked form the server (wasnt playing domination or insurgency so wasnt getting killed on them).
Mr logic pitched up and we decided to try and fix my install, well after an hour of messing (thanks logic), we couldn't get domination sorted. We think we have got insurgency sorted by me downloading the files and sticking them in my mpmisson folder. But domination is still a no go

Some things we have figured out.

I DONT get kicked form any other domination mission after i die....what have we done to our server files?
we didnt think it was at my end as i have by this morning
1) Wiped my steam hard drive .......Twice
2) Re-installed windows.... Twice
3) Changed modems
4) Turned off all anti virus and fire walls

this is the report from my arma rpt file in my local files folder after joing dominationa nd getting killed

But as it is only this mission it leads me to believe that something at my end and our servers end doesn't like each other, But why when 4 other servers worked no issue?

Do we use verysig

The server with verifySignature 1 will check both v1 and v2 signatures. With verifySignature 2 the server will reject v1 signatures.

and could we trry these 2 addon lines for the server as a lot of ppl have said this fixes there session lost issue, they are near the bottom of the page

Code:
regularcheck={}"; // Signature timeout fix
There were always two guys who would get dropped out of an otherwise perfectly running game (at least for anyone but them) - this fixed it for them.

Shooting into the blue as this was back in ArmA 2 only times .. but you´ll never know what ArmA has up it´s sleeve for you
Thanks for the help it seems to have worked. We had most of our members jump on the server public server and reported no problem at all since I added that line.

Once again thanks.

from what i agther some server commands are held in the mission file so that would explain the not getting kicked form any other map

[SIZE="3]Serious replies only plz[/SIZE]

Im at the stage where Arma 2 is going to get unistalled once and for all.........

Right, I've been through the domination map script and can find no reference for signature, signature check, regularcheck or anything that looks remotely relevant. When I edited Dom I can't remember quite what I did, I think I just changed the grouping, am not 100%. I didn't screw with any inegrity things.

Have you recreated your profile as well as all your steam install? I know you've wiped it, but that sounds like an awful lot of downloading in a short period if you have indeed deleted the arma install? Legacy add-ons perhaps?

I'm sure that one of the server wizards can check the config file, but I'm fairly sure it's vanilla. This is a strange one indeed.

Signature checking is now off on 2302 - password still active.

See if that's any better, Sulks.

We're discussing your problems in the Admin section and trying to find something that may point to the problem, as your problems are mainly on the persistent maps we run we though it might be to do with your username having non-standard characters and the maps scripts getting confused.

Bang goes that theory.

ok so today i pulled everything out of the comp....h/d's, gfx cards, soundcard, and the dvd drive. put them all back in.
formated both hard drives from outside windows, so there was nothing on either drive
reinstalled vista + drivers
reinstalled steam client only
reinstalled arma oa only
ran it in domination got killed, no kick but cant use vehicles or be seen by enemy attacking camp.
re verified cache all good except the steam install file (one that keeps it up to date)
manually patched up to 1.59 even though my steam version was up to date...same result
firewall was turned off as and no anti virus was installed.
used neighbours tinternet via a long lan cable, same result.
cant get any online help as no-one else has this issue.

i have 2 options now buy a dvd version and see what happens or quit arma 2 oa....tbh looking a lot like the latter as it stands, ive had enough

Looks like you've tried everything Sulky. The only common thing in all these re-installs is that you're pulling the same files from Steam each time.

If you've got any fight left in you then I'd suggest getting the DVD. If it don't work then I'll personally reimburse you.

It's a challenge this one, I'd like to crack it.
Who is your broadband supplier, (and your neighbours)
is it only domination?
is it only the modded version?
is it only zargabad?

Oldie, I've tried the dvd and it didn't work, send me some money.

What do you do with your profiles, did you restore or re-create from scratch.

Try creating a new player profile with a different name and joining.

Dammit this is like Sherlock Holmes only more sexy because I'm Sherlock, not that tit from Iron Man.

So, it's definitely something about your install and/or PC. There are only so many variables.

Create a new profile called 'Player1' and try it. That rules out any character issues.
You've done a full reinstall.
Is your reinstall on C: or do you redirect your game directory to another drive?
The game is afoot, Oldie, you can be Moriarty, Lib, you're the dog on drugs at my feet.

Have you gone into the properties of the AO exe, and configured it to run as an administrator?

Have you tried disabling UAC?

What about motherboard updates? Intel chipset drivers, that kind of thing.

Ditto.

Except I run the OS on my own C: drive, not Pens.
