Title: Offensive language
Post by: ArithonUK on July 02, 2011, 04:02:04 PM
When someone comes on to the dMw server and starts f-ing and blinding at other players (and me) I will generally kick them and in extreme cases temporarily ban them if they persist after warnings.

Question: Should I permanently ban anyone and if so, what reasons are justified?

Question: If (like right now) someone comes on the server with a clantag that's offensive should I kick them? e.g. [****] silent fx

What is the dMw policy on this?

We can't, best we can do is 24 hours.  However, i have has cause to request from Ninja a perm ban for two guys who were being racist.  I did this via a PM to Ninja and provided a transcript of the chat. (Maybe that's something you could add to your shiny new tool, Chat Dump ?

But, the correct procedure includes posting all the details in this forum, as i understand it even for 24 hour bans.  I've just done a quick search for "Banned" and only found one post from April 2010, that don't seem a lot.  Maybe we should firm this up Ninja?

The general rule of thumb has always been that if they're being offensive be it in voice or in tag or name then ask them to stop / change their name and if they don't comply then kick em or, as you say, ban them if they return and fail to comply.

I think it's impractical to post up details each and every time but that's really game specific so up to Ninja to decide.

agreed, we'd have a whole new forum section for the "offensive name/tag/language etc. " :D
just kick/ban or just keep kicking if you have no bannage rights

Admin Guidelines (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?31380-Admin-Guidelines&p=311829&viewfull=1#post311829)
(Rules 4 & 5 not 1 & 2 as show in the quote)
Quote from: Ninja_Freak;311829
  • Follow this simple process for kicks/bans:
  • Warn 3x for all Server Rule infractions & Use Server Messages
  • Kick on the 4th infraction & Post a Server Message as to why player was kicked (use Yell)
  • If the individual returns and continues the infraction, give one final warning
  • After that ban for 24hrs - Post a server message (use Yell) as to why
  • Post  in the BC2 Admin Forum using a subject *** Banned *** - Player Name and  then outline the reason why you issued a ban and confirm the steps  taken before you issued the ban. Try also to remember names of other dMw  members on the server at the time
  • Remember, if the ban is challenged you need to have followed the process and evidence this.
  •   Only the TGL can issue a ban longer than 24hrs

The guys are correct. Make sure you give them a couple of warnings. Then kick. If they come back and do it, ban them.

WRT inappropriate names / clan-tags, the same rule applies. Politely inform them that their clan-tag is offensive and ask them to leave the server and change it. If they refuse, kick. Rince / repeat.
