So its the time of year when I get depressed at how expensive it is to go to the F1 at Silverstone as I love watching motor sport. Its simply too expensive for tickets and to get the "full experience" of taking the Mrs and a few mates will run into thousands of pounds.
On the 20th and 21st of August there is a FREE (yes FREE!) event called the Renault world series at Silverstone with a weekend of action packed racing including formula Renault and touring car style racing. I went there last year with a load of mates (including ChronosMark and Ash) and even though the weather was pap it was really good weekend which didn't break the bank.
For avid photographers its a fantastic weekend as you get to take photos for F1 cars of the past (and present) driving round Silverstone and a wide array of vehicles. They also let you in the pits and you can watch people working on the cars =).

It will all be on Eurosport anyway so you never know you might see me and some mates on TV.
We normally go up on the Friday night and pitch our tents, then have a big **** up/BBQ at the camp site. Same Again on the Sat night after a day of racing and travelling back on Sunday afternoon evening. There was even a rave in a field next door last year on the Saturday night =).

I did the general admission route at Spa last year, and I'm going for covered stands this year. It is nearly £300 for seats. Not cheap. Hopefully a free event like this can get more people into motor racing.
Sounds like fun, I already have plans for that weekend but I'd be up for going next year.
I went to Silverstone for a supercar race day a few years ago and it was awesome. We could sit/stand wherever on the track we fancied and the garages were all open to the public, so you could wander through and watch the teams take their MC12's etc to bits.
It was only £10 for the day too, bargain.

Sounds like a fun day, but I'm already booked up for other stuff on those days. Looking forward to a day at Silverstone tomorrow though for the F1 Free Practice sessions, so long as it does not rain. :(
