Last 2 days my little in game monitor has been showing up red with unplayable 26 ms home 3000+ world
found a temp fix that seems to have worked for me
Quoteello guys, after finding this here and because im a VM 50mb customer too, experiencing around 2k ms lag, I found this in the WoW forums:
Go to RUN and then type CMD then in the command window do:
For ETHERNET:
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=900 store=persistent
Where Local Area Connection is the name of your ethernet adapter connection.
For WIRELESS:
netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Wireless Network Connection" mtu=900 store=persistent
Where Wireless Network Connection is the name of your wireless adapter connection.
Hope it helps as my latency droped to around 200ms now. (http://virgin.i.lithium.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif)
Still Virgin needs to sort this fast. (http://virgin.i.lithium.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif)
im back to almost normal figures ....
Maybe some boffin could let me know what its actualy doing ?
It's reducing the size of your MTU...

not very exciting I'm afraid, something to do with how Virgin have their backbone or CPE connected, not much to worry about..
im with virgin and ive experienced nothing, that being said i made port protocol's for all my online games as soon as i got them to avoid any connection issues so may be a contributing factor
Sheep had the same problem... Vlad your just lucky :)
Cheers Mr B. It seems MTU is the number of crisps in a packet. I drop down to normal size from the mosnstermunch big bag. I was getting fat anyway. The bit that gets me. Virgin are in complete deniale that its down to they way they shape traffic
Virgin are currently hugely under-resourced and struggling with the basics from what I'm seeing on the business side....and they shape traffic, the same as everyone else does, next it'll be BT telling you 21CN, interleaving and DLM is a great success.
