I have done some seaches about bounty hunters and found some really cool videos on Youtube about this class. I sugest if you plan to play this class first that you skip some of the videos so it does not spoil it too much for first plays but there is some really nice commentry and design talks through out and gives a general in game feel to what we will experience when released.

Bounty Hunters.

During the beta the class I focused on learning as much as possible was the Bounty Hunter and if it was the choice I would end up taking once the game is released to the masses. Thought I would share my findings.

The starting area for the class is Hutta which is the same area as Imperial Agent class which is all to do with black market, back stabbing, and dirty scum like characters. There are 5 races to pick from for the Bounty Hunter and each give different benefits which as only played in beta have not got detailed information on but the star wars wiki has some interesting details.

The 2 paths of the Bounty Hunter are Powertech which is Tank class and Mercenary which is Healer and both have tree specs loaded towards DPS but the Mercenary focuses more on DPS due to the duel wielding of blaster pistols and focus on your rockets and darts doing more damage. (of which you have many)

http://swtor.wikia.com/wiki/Powertech

In both cases the main focus for a Bounty Hunter is keeping his gear up to as good as possible and being able to ware the heavy armour category this means he is able to take a good amount of punishment before being sent to the George Lucas form of heaven or hell.

This means they are going to be one of the main classes to take on the role of tank and taking all the heavy damage with the use of shields and melee attacks like flame thrower and rocket punch. For the Powertech version you will only get to use 1 pistol but I have seen some running around with a knife or other melee weapon in the offhand.

I went down this path in beta as this was my thinking for main release but I realised one major factor that put me off and that is the play style is a bit boring. This is a very serious side to things when thinking you might end up playing for a good many months or even years. I found although I never had a problem with single targets or groups of anything up to 4 at once and even taking on heroic level turrets on my own and coming out on the living side. It was really a case of just outlasting the enemy and slowly taking them down but this as said got a bit boring.

It got worse when seeing the mercenary class having lots of fun from range with duel blasters, lots of rockets and darts which stun and blow groups up at once, along with the legendary take to the skies with jets and rain rockets down on the enemy. This was added to the envious emotions when seeing warriors and inquisitors running around with lightsabers. So this is a very important thing to take into consideration. On the plus side you will never be short or take long to find a group to do Flashpoints or Heroic quests and as I said will be hard to take down as long as your armour is kept up to the level needed. I found when I went to the next zone at level 11 I was suddenly very squishy until I started getting more gear of mobs and quests.

I can not comment though on how the healing works with Bounty Hunter Mercenary class as did not get around to trying it out so anyone who did feel free to add some comments. But an overview of this class is think paladin in world of warcraft except with lots of guns and explosions.

Crew Skills

    * Crafting Skills
          o Armormech
          o Armstech
          o Artifice
          o Biochem
          o Cybertech
          o Synthweaving
    * Gathering Skills
          o Archaeology
          o Bioanalysis
          o Scavenging
          o Slicing
    * Mission Skills
          o Diplomacy
          o Investigation
          o Treasure Hunting
          o Underworld Trading

The best skills to work on for a Bounty Hunter would focus around making sure you have the best gear for the job or being able to enhance the gear with gadgets. This taken into consideration I chose Armour mech and Scavenging which is gathering metals and making armour. Cyber tech is similar but focuses on technical equipment used with armour and other devices so like, enhances shields and rockets. The game recommended taking Underworld Trading as a third skill as it would help with getting gear of markets (similar to Auction House) for better values but I personally went with Slicing which focuses on opening locks you normally would not be able to get into. This class gives you a good chance (depending on your companion) of getting high level and rare gear from locked boxes by sending your companion out on missions.

If you are taking Mercenary advanced class then I would suggest taking Arms tech as a skill which will provide better blasters to help with the DPS output.

Final thoughts.
Personally I really like the class still and will be playing it on main release but am not 100% sure on the advanced skill to go down but am leaning more to Mercenary.
