Title: Bloodlust at start of fight
Post by: Legolei on August 07, 2011, 08:50:37 PM
I just listened to the Hunting Party Podcast, where they had a hunter named Kruf (http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/lightnings-blade/Kruf/advanced) as a guest.

His statement was that only at the start of a fight, at a pull, you will get maximum benefit from Bloodlust (or Time Warp), because that is the only moment in the fight where you know for sure that all spells are available, all procs will go off, everyone is alive, so it is the only moment where you will do your maximum dps. So his guild uses Bloodlust in every fight where overall dps matters.

Maybe we should try that too. E.g Bloodlust at the start of Shannox to quickly get Rageface down?

You sure he doesnt mean a fight like Atramedes? Caus the soft enrage they use in FL these days would be a pain without Heroism IMO

Well not really. The largest amount of incoming raid damage is the last 30% or so where Shannox is double enraged and casting alot of aoe. This is the point where BL becomes most effective otherwise the healers will oom and we will wipe.

I have to say I think it might be best at start of Beth P2, once everyone is grouped up. I konw it makes a little difference but that's the only time both tanks are on the boss. Once the 1st debuff is cast, most the time, there will be a tank standing at least 10 yards from raid.

Its case by case .....We lean on it from a healing point of view to help with soft enrage type mechanics. If its a straigt up burn boss then yes blow at the start while everyone is alive and all trinket pops are ready

I agree to a certain agree with Jas here. There are soft enrage timers that we tend to hit during progression raids. But; When something is on farm, and we expect to 1-shot a boss, I think Treach is absolutely right in most cases.
A shiny example; look to Nomnotron in BWD. For DPS-maximization; pop it at start.
This might also be a good idea on Shannox to get Facepalm down earlier.

in some fight, may be an idea, but shannox, I do not think works.
I think it is better to shorten the P3 instead of the death of the dog! the same thought for beth'tilac and Rhyo.

From a dps & healing pov, heroism is best later in the fight as it helps healers get through soft enrage mechanics and dps have a lot of talents that kick in when the boss HP is getting lower (e.g. Shadow Word: Death at <25% HP).  However you also have to consider movement issues and that sometimes pushes heroism into a clear spot where movement is minimised - and that could even be at the start of the fight.
