Title: Deus Ex: Human Evolution
Post by: GhostMjr on August 26, 2011, 11:50:38 AM
Anyone bought it yet?

I have started to play through it.

It got 94% in Pcgamer so should be a good play.

Feels a bit scripty so far but overall graphics and story seem pretty great.

RPS gave it a decent review, but they did say that it still fails the get near to brilliance of the original. Shame :(

That's where I've gone wrong, I've not killed a single other character yet and I'm just about to do the last quest in China.

Edit:

Ok, I've now killed a few nobbers escaping from that Pod Hotel place. I should have bought an upgraded backpack space slot before exiting but had no room to take it for all my many hacking thingys and energy bars, there was a mini-gun on the floor after I killed a big armoured geezer.

I love it, I think it is as good as the original, and it seems like it will have a decent shelf life, due to the number of side missions and explorations you can do.

Find the game quite fun. Have been playing it for a few days now and just started my second game.
Cant wait to see what could have been diffrent at certain Xroads.

Altho the ending was kinda .... dry... was expecting something more.

My thoughts: it's ok, but not even in the original's league.

I was very close to uninstalling the game and walking away forever when it presented the first "Boss" fight. I had spent the entire game up until that point being a sneaky ninja, loading all my points into stealth and hacking, when the game dumps me in a room with a man-tank killing machine with no other option but to go toe-toe with him.

What's the point in offering the illusion of choice if the game is going to force you down a particular path anyway? Very disappointing.

I now hate this game because it trashed my windows 7 install.

Ive played through it several times now for achiemvnets and different play styles (stealth then shooting) you can kill all bosses with the stealth option, the first one has barrels around his room just lob them at him,  and for the tohers just have 1 massivly upgraded weapon (i chose a sub machine gun as its aquired early on) and the last boss u have a grenade launcher so its all good.

Not in the same depth/mystery as the first one and how the endings are aquired does suck like hell but apart from that a brilliant game that ill undoubtadly play again and again

Despite no sparetime I bought the game. I should never have done that. Great game. Not as good as the first, but way better than the 2nd. Allows for so many play styles as mentioned earlier (sneak past, silent kill, casual, guns blazing)

I'm still not sure. I went stealth and got through the first mission, now I'm walking around what has to represent the 'city' of Detroit - quite disappointing in scale tbh, unless there's more later on - but so far I'm not impressed. Can't really pinpoint anything 'wrong' with the game (apart from the very subpar graphics and voice acting) but it's just not doing anything for me. I'd give this a 7 out of 10 at the most.

played it- had great fun, bossses... hmm 1st was a bit unusual(u can talk to him), 2nd- standard, 3rd- a pain, last - unusual, if somewhat disapointing, although the wife said the cut scene was  good.. i`d agree, tho not an epic finish !
