Firstly, its big. 2.6GB !!!
It will all go live in the wee hours of Wednesday Sep 21st (EU time).
[h=3]What is the patch about?[/h] Its main goal is to address stability problems with the game and performance issues. It is not intended to address game logic fixes.
[h=3]You are being vague. Exact changelist please![/h] Ok, here goes...
- Removed some memory leaks
- Fixed crashes when the game attempted to render lots of content (high detail, high FOV or multiple-monitor modes); this should particularly help multi-monitor users
- Chat window no longer causes lag spikes
- Chat window reworked opacity & visibility-time is controllable through settings in settings.ini
- Clantag is remembered when using auto-login
- Banner URLs can be up to 252 characters in length
- SecuROM wrapper removed from non-Steam version
- Minor performance enhancements
- Reduced rubberbanding on servers with more than 24 active players
- PrintScreen takes a screenshot, file stored in Documents\BFBC2\Screenshots directory
[h=3]How large is the patch?[/h] It is approximately 2.6GB.
[h=3]That's huge man. Given that size, I would expect dinosaur survival mode to be included.[/h] The patch itself contains all previous patches rolled into one. While it would have been technically possible to create a smaller patch for those who have Client R10 installed already, that would have delayed the release of the patch even further - so we thought it better to release a larger patch now, than a smaller patch sometime in the future.
[h=3]Are there any known problems with it?[/h] If your Windows username contains non-English characters (such as ö, ý, etc) then PunkBuster will not activate properly. To work around this, ensure that your Windows username uses only characters from the English character set. In other words, "7-bit ASCII only, please". We caught this at the very end of the validation pass, and decided that it was better to deliver the build to the public than to give it another tour through the whole patch generation and validation process.
[h=3]How do I get the patch?[/h] Steam users: The Steam client will automatically begin distributing it to you in the wee hours of Wednesday morning... at 4AM UTC, to be precise.
non-Steam users: the auto-updater will suddenly discover the patch around that same time.
Or - you can find a manual updater for the non-Steam version here (http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/bc2-pc-service-update/1426166-manually-downloading-client-r11.html). Note that if you install Client R11 too early, you will not see any game servers. If so, just wait till those begin updating as well.
For those users that are having problem with the game's auto-updater, we recommend trying the manual updater.
[h=3]I installed the Client R11 Public Beta patch some time ago, how do I sort out my machine?[/h] Follow this link (http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/bc2-pc-patch-feedback/1426165-updating-client-r11-beta-real-client-r11.html) to see what you have to do.
[h=3]What about the game servers?[/h] These will gradually be updated by the RSP companies, starting at 4AM UTC on Wed Sep 21st as well. New game clients can only see new game servers, and vice versa... so toward the end of the day, most of the servers should be updated and visible in the new game client's server browser.
Now, pardon me, but there are game servers to distribute...

Great.
But i don´t experience any problem with the game.
lol.. I was thinking the same thing Darkenss.
Arithon, was there anything made of connecting multiple PC's behind the same IP? I'm aware that there's been problems like this in the past but wondering if they've addressed this at all.
Thanks for the update.

Unless mother decides to upload photo's to facebook... :ranting2:
But never really any problems when it's just out two computers going.
Server is now patched.
Multiple PC's behind the same IP
Got another gaming rig over the weekend (thanx Fazer for the loan of a graphics card) and we had all three of us (TwoBad, Cheese Puff & De Blob) playing last night. I joined first and then De Blob. When cheesey joined using the new rig i lost connection to the server but was able to rejoin immediately.
Have just patched all three pc's and re-done the clientport numbers on each and tested and all worked ok. Will try it again later.
As for game play last night, didn't see any drop in performance when we were all on and i only have an 8meg connection.
I think 3 is the limit - has anyone managed to get more than 3 machines behind the same router connected?

The only issue is the default port used. By modifying the game shortcut command line (or adding args in steam) e.g. "-port 27028" you can stop traffic collision between workstations on the same router.
FOR NON STEAM USERS:Normally when you run BFBC2, it runs through a loader to check for updates. You need (in this case) to cut out the middle-man. Find your "BFBC2Game.exe" in either "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2" or "C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield Bad Company 2" (unless you've installed somewhere else).

Select the file, then right-click and select COPY, then go to the desktop and right-click and select PASTE SHORTCUT (not PASTE). Right-click the newly created icon and select PROPERTIES and in the "Target" box, arrow all the way to the end (past the quotes) and add your "-port xxxxx" argument to the command line.

FOR STEAM USERS- Go to Steam's My games menu
- Right-click on the BFBC2 and select Properties
- From the General tab, click the Set launch options button
- Type in the "-port xxxxx" where xxxxx = a unique port number
If you don't specify "-port", then it will use a default port of 19567. Pick a random number in the 20000-30000 range, that should serve you fine. By using different ports, your router will not struggle to tell the client PC's apart.
I've read on one forum that a group played with 9 clients on a 10MB cable connection. So here's hoping for the LAN!
How long did the download take you guys? I didn't get it going earlier and it's taking aaaages.
Is there a Uk Download site i can get the patch from or would it make no difference when updateing via the update box that comes up by defualt on non steam BC:2 Games?
My download looks like it's stuck... anyone had any issues downloading via the standard BC2 connect?

when i first got the game i did, its a pain in the bum updating from the standard EA Auto Updater for BC:2 Hence why i want a link elsewhere[for the latest patch that is relaiable], i have had issues with it before like not responding, or saying i have no internet connection when i did. I just downloaded the patch from elsewhere.
hope this helps tox http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/bc2-pc-service-update/1426166-manually-downloading-client-r11.html
took me two hours to download so not to bad at busy period of the day (4-6) @ 340kbps
Mine took 10 mins not tried it yet
Well I connected to my BF2 to see if the download I started last night worked, and it connected fine so thought 'great, it's done', went to connect a min ago and it decided it hadn't downloaded the patch so has started. Let's hope it doesn't take too long. It kept stopping due to my comp going to sleep and it starts from scratch every time.
use my download link once its downloaded it up packs the patch and then BC:2 Updater installs it fine
