I feel slightly relieved that we decided not to go with RDRAM for the server upgrade now!

Well done that man :-)
Nice choice, very enjoyable game last night with no lag and great ping times. Nice one dMw.
Hear hear! Lag has been consigned to history. One tiny thing, if I may be so bold. If there are ever 32 players on board it'll be like rush hour in a very rush-houry place. Say goodbye to tactics and team play, the charge of the Light Brigade will seem like a sunday hack out in the countryside by comparison.
(I can feel the sky falling in on me already)
You're right in that larger teams can become a problem. But, you can restrict the rushing effect by moving on to larger maps with more complex game arenas. The same can be said for smaller teams - it is not so much fun trying to play a larger map when you only have a small team.
Therefore IMHO, to some extent (but not solely), we should be guided by the number of people on the server as to which maps we play.
Horses for courses an' all......
