Spoke to him on TS today.
He did a bit of raiding in the past and more recently was with Slackers earlier in the year but had to leave when he had some PC issues that meant he could not meet attendance. Bounced around as a Social, found a raiding slot with Burning Souls but they stopped raiding altogether, so he left and was looking for a raid guild - hence us coming into the picture.
Scottish, but we can hold that against Whitey & Darthdrew, seemed a little quiet on TS but he could & did talk and did not sound like a complete tosser.
Invited for trial today. He's done the first 3 bosses in Firelands and is pretty much geared to 378 already, so he should perform fine once he knows our tactics and the way we do things.

I'd say if we have not had an update from him by Saturday 14th January then he should be formally demoted to Social. By then he will have been absent for over a month without a word of an update on when he will be returning to raiding. Given the zero notice he gave us, I think we have been more than generous to date.

....and now decision time. He's posted to say he is back (but we've demoted him to Social rank) but I'm not sure if that means raiding or not. He was good dps and we need one more to cover ranged dps imo and his attendance was good when he raided with us. So if he wants to raid do we give him a second chance?
If he is wanting to raid I'd suggest we have a talk and explain he can't just bail on us like that again, he has to be able to get access to a PC somehow, it's impossible not to get a message to us.
Thoughts?
We could use another ranged and he was good but he's now behind on gear and he could have updated us before now on what was going on. If he wants a raid spot back then he needs to at least get his gear up to LFR status before we get him in on heroics. One to discuss on TS before the next raid.
