Title: Battlestar issues
Post by: Gortex on October 11, 2011, 09:55:39 AM
Last night I came across a few issues with the game and one which is either me being very stupid (very likely) or the game is bugged and hates me.

1st Prob,

After trying to attack a (several levels) higher ship to my fighter and heroically getting my Fracking butt handed to me, I died to the much fan fair from the human but for some strange reason I was not given a re-spawn option which would normally come up once dead. This left me floating in space and not able to do anything. I ended up guessing the game had bugged out (not sure if there is a button which can over ride this situation) and quit and reloaded.

This fixed the problem (or so I thought) and put me in the hanger bay and this leads me onto the second issue.

2nd Prob,

After the reload I went to repair my ship and wanted to get back out there and hand the smack down to the human scum who shot me out the sky but this time with some upgrades to my ship and a few more parts. This consisted of 2 more engine parts (only had 2 installed first time round) which were upgraded to level 2 and a new computer system that when activated increases the cannon power by 45% which I also upgraded to level 2 for an additional 1.6% power. I installed these parts and thought this time we will kick his stupid human head in and headed out to space.

Once found I engaged and went for the kill only to find out that with in a few seconds of firing my cannons I had no power at all to the ship (blue bar under health bar) and that it was not replenishing at all and so all guns and operations other than flying stopped working and so became defenceless and I bravely turned tail and ran for safety. I thought ok just wait for a moment and the power will come back, but no such joy. I docked and repaired and went back out this time with full power. Thinking perhaps it was a lucky shot from the human and hit a power system or something I went to try out a drone instead only for the same thing to happen and for me to die again. (not happy now)

I went back to the hanger thinking perhaps all my new gear was using too much power and so stopping anything from working once activated. I then took out both the new engine parts and the computer cannon upgrade system and popped into locker hoping this might help explain the problem. Undocked and decided to play safe and just go scan an asteroid this then took a massive 41 power off my bar and again was not replenishing so clearly something is not right here. In annoyance I quit and went to bed.

Has anyone else had this problem before? or know how it is fixed or what might be coursing it? All my gear has just been upgraded to level 2 (slowly).

Sadly it's a bug, although about the only one I'm aware of. To resurrect just log out and back in again as you did. The no power issue can be a bit more annoying. Some solutions that have worked are:

Jumping zones
Logging out and in a again.
Entering and leaving a base star
When you get a second ship swapping ships and entering space
Leaving the game, clearing the browser cache and re-entering
Clearing the unity cache - http://en.board.bigpoint.com/bgo/showthread.php?t=267585

(http://en.board.bigpoint.com/bgo/showthread.php?t=267585)Sadly occasionally none of the above works and the you need to quit the game, close the browser, clear the Unity cache and just wait for about half and hour

I can confirm that this option worked for me.

this raises a question

are you using mining cannons in combat(they suck up huge chunks of power)
if so, turn them off in combat- and you guns should work, or you ship should be able to recover some power to maintain a constant firing patern, as when you use all the power, your guns "stutter" as you don`t have enough to maintain them....

if you not using mining cannons in combat- then.. umm, you got a weird bug mon:help2::help2:

I've always solved the power issue by clicking exit then waiting until the time gets to about 12 seconds then cancelling it. Works every time.

Yep, Penfolds solution seems to work every time for me and is the quickest way to fix the issue.

Hi All, Today I had a period of about 1 hour where this error came up and the game wouldn't load:

Unable to connect as no valid crossdomain policy was found

It has a number of solutions suggested but given my game connection has been rock solid up to now I can only assume this was a server side issue.

Has anyone else see this today?

Yep, I saw it also.  I am guessing server side.  I left it alone, went and did something more productive and it's up and running again now.

This happened about a week ago for an hour or so. I think it's a login server issue that lasts a few hours at most. Hope it get fixed permanently though.

Must be a day for bugs ...

My skills training was screwed i.e. the top 'Gunnery' section was labelled as 'Piloting' but with the proper Gunnery sub-sections

I tried reconnecting but it was still fubar'd. Cleared the cache and it was then OK.
